Guest guest
Dear Wendy. Happy Ganesh Chathurthi. Your source is perfectly acceptible. There is no contradiction, if i read your words correctly you said that the 2nd house was attributed to the face. If your experience tells you otherwise, then I have more to learn from you, but intuition is something else.. with your experience you must agree. Looking at Brihat Jatak(Varahamihira)- Usha Shashi sloka 1-4 gives; 1st for Head, 2nd for face and 3rd for breast, continous in the allready given order by your teachers. Next i'll take Phala Deepika (Mantreswara) - S.S. Sareen Sloka 1-4 gives the exact same. Now i'm well aware of the problems with translations, but your list doesn't tell us much about the ears, instead it talks about the face.. but i do understand your interpretation/translation. Did you get this confirmed by the one who wrote it? Now i'll take Santhanams Translation of BPHS: Sloka 12-12; Head(1), eyes(2), ears(3), nose(4), temple(5), chin(6) and face(7) is the order of limbs denoted when the first drekkana of a sign rises. Sloka 12-13 then talks about the 2nd and 3rd drekkana, let me jump to sloka 12-14; The portian allready risen(visible half) indicates left side of the body. So it seems that there is a direct reference to the 3rd/11th for the ears when using drekkanas. This however may not entirely change your position on this. Raths translation of Jaimini's Upadesa; Chapter 4, Quarter 1: Sloka 3; The stronger between Lagna and Chandra Lagna shall represent the head. Sloka 4; The stronger between 2nd house from Lagna and Chandra Lagna shall represent the face. Sloka 5; The stronger between 3rd house from Lagna and Chandra Lagna shall represent the throat. Now lets skip some slokas: Sloka 13; The stronger between the 11th house as well as the third house from the Lagna and Chandra Lagna shall represent the ears. This is the basis of my statement, and i'm cc'ing this to Gjlist to save time. If we really wanto prove these statements correct we need charts to test them on. Does anyone have more of such charts? Best wishes, Visti. - Wendy Vasicek Visti Larsen Wednesday, August 22, 2001 8:24 PM Rashi and Physiology Hello Visti, Unfortunately I'm unable to send attachments via Gjlist, but since you're the one contradicting my statements, perhaps it should go to you anyway. We've discussed on the list in earlier days that, due to the many different translators and the ability (or not) of such translators, we cannot always take the traditional texts (the translation of) literally without the benefit of our own understanding, experience, intuition, training, etc... One of the first "courses" I took was indeed "Maharishi jyotish" (see attached flyer from course). Maharishi's work of passing on the knowledge of the Vedas and the knowledge of Jyotish in it's PURITY is unquestionable. Please note the part of physiology attributed to 2nd house and 3rd house. You can contradict me all you like Visti but I have no doubt whatsoever of the correctness of Maharishi's teachings. I, on the other hand, have grave doubts regarding your sources.
