Guest guest
Dear Friends, especially those who have expressed much concern about my welfare, As you all know, my health had been deteriorating during the last many months. The main problem was my nose and an operation was needed badly. But other complcations were there and the operation had to be repeatedly postponed. I was living with perpetual nausea, lack of oxygen; could not eat and was totally undernourished, tried to keep alive by drinking concentrated foods etc. Finally I got a date for the operation, but had to wait 2 months for it to be done! During that period a friend from India came and stayed a few weeks with me. His presence did me good one way, but in my state of health it was a tremendous strain. After he left there was a heat wave, which nearly killed me. I could do nothing at all, just lay in bed. Even answering the phone was a strain, let alone calling or writing. And the most irritating thing was when people called and asked how I was getting on. My condition was just too miserable to talk about and expressions of sympathy or other advice were all just too much to bear: all I wanted was relief, to leave my body and get away! At last the day came for me to go to the hospital. The operation was done on the 10th of August and now I am back home. Both nose and larynx were dealt with. Everything is raw and it will take a few weeks to heal. Have to restrict talking to a minimum, can only whisper. But since three days I can breathe freely and the nausea is gone, I can eat. Feel much stronger and hope I´ll be normal soon. Guess I´ll be around for some more time! At present it is R and R. Meanwhile I have a big back-log of things I have to get done. I won´t be able to write much on the list for some time, so please don´t get worried about me! regards, Mani

Guest guest
Re Mani, Dear Mani, many people asked me about you. I obtained your phone and address, but resisted giving it out. I got the wind that it was better not to. But many people were asking about your silence. You are appreciated. Life is certainly very difficult in a flesh body. The entire environment, the age, the politics, societies, diseases, aging, approaching demise, selfishness in self and others, negotiations, dissapointments,... Life is incredibly difficult. A refuge in the middle of it all is spiritual life, and it's really available, it's easy but difficult, we resist, I resist, we have anger and resentment about the past (I do), unfulfilled hopes and dreams, (me anyway), so it's hard to surrender and say, OK, I'm "going in" (meaning going into spiritual life without looking back). I can't do it yet. Life is pushing me there though. You are senior here, one of the elders of the list. You are noticed, and so is your absences. Of course this isn't preassure, but you are noticed. Just wanted you to know this. We're all with you papaji, with love, Richard (das goravani)
