Hi,

I was just wondering--maybe it's regional, but in talking to a lot of

female friends here, most of us prefer the "teddy bear" type of man--don't

care for the overly "buff", vain selfish always looking in the mirror dudes

who think they are "all that"--I mean, it is a real turn-off. It seems

weasely. We like the affectionate teddy bear, easy going enough to do fun

stuff with us, and a few extra pounds either way, so what. He likes to eat,

enjoy life, he doesn't need to bitch; a more lush and generous soul. Cuddly.

We are all looking for a sweet, spiritual guy. Look below the surface: how

do you make each other feel about yourselves? Is there generosity of spirit?

Do you laugh together?

It is such an empty feeling to be with someone who only cares about how

things look to the outside world, most of the outside world doesn't care.

I work out--if you could bottle that feeling of euphoria you get, whew!

Plus it's actually a spiritual thing too. Get depressed if I don't. But

it's not so I can look at myself in the mirror and all that stuff. It helps

in enjoying life to be healthy. And have balance.

Our local newspaper had a quote recently: "Men love with their eyes,

women with their ears." What do you guys think of that? Is there an

astrological basis for that?

If so, all those men can't help chasing after "plastic" , poor things. And

what are the women after, the sound of money, ca -ching! is music now? :(

Does it make 'em happy? :(

You know, I thought that was mostly MTV stuff, to sell videos. It's

serious?

Well, back to work now.

Take care,

Robin

Hi Das...

As a California native, I feel impelled to speak on what you wrote here. I

agree that this has turned into Sodom and Gamorrah here. I have lived here

forty years and watched it change from relatively 'tolerable' (LA is a hubbub

compared to the rest of So. Cal) to wall to wall concrete as I call it. Many of

the natives of my generation and older have moved out and MANY carpetbaggers

have moved IN and that is why this state has been ruined in the big cities as

well as the outlying area's.

I grew up in Orange, CA when there was NOTHING but the Santiago Mountains, the

Hispanics (my people) were all over the place as this is their home too (before

whites got here, half hispanic here). We had one grocery store, one drug store,

a Mexican restaurant and a few other businesses scattered here and there.

Orange and Avocado and Lemon groves were EVERYWHERE dotted with Eucalyptus and

Pepper trees native to this area. It was a beautiful place. When I drive into

the same area, it is so cramped with businesses, homes and apartments, you can

barely see my beloved mountains in the distance. The same mountains that my

brother and I used to climb up when we were little, explore the little 'caves'

and record our echo's on our tape player for halloween (LOL). We used to hang

out in those orange trees all day on weekends while enjoying the fruit that the

farmers would allow us because we were neighbors and take avocado's home to our

mom ...their gift simply because they were kind. Their was an owl that lived in

the tree behind our house as our house sat that the start of one of those

groves. The night sounds were beautiful and you could see the stars. Now,

because we have businesses lit up 24/7...the 'glow' of the city drowns out what

is in the sky. It REALLY sucks. Mother Earth can't be happy with this crap.

There are two stars visible in the night sky showing out my windshield.

I smile and think.

Though I've been here in LA going on a second week now, I haven't seen

anyone misbehave at all. Everyone is behaving in traffic, on the

streets, everywhere. Everywhere I look it seems really very pleasant. Of

course, I'm in the nice parts of town. They are definitely nice.

[me]

That's because everyone's on prozac...LOL. They are anesthesized either by

anti-depressants (50-75% of American's are on some form of

anti-depressants...did you know that? Or they are drugged with materialism. As

a counselor I deal with these statistics all the time. AND we haven't even

discussed the rest of the 'regular' prescription drugs people take plus the

illegal drugs...so who's left? :::looking around the room::: Gawd.

[you]

Passions run high, plastic breasts are everywhere. The "LA Weekly"

sports many plastic surgery ads. The back of the magazine is filled with

lady escort ads with photos. The passion of sex runs extremely high

here. I had no idea it was like this.

[me]

That's what society projects to the average man and woman HERE (I don't know

about the rest of the world) that this plastic image and this life filled with

instant gratification is 'ideal'. Sick...isn't it? And people don't actually

'do it' as much as the image projects. Trust me...they don't...so society makes

them feel like crap. Every commercial interlude is filled with at least one

commercial on some 'pill' you can take to make it all go away...can't have sex?

Take Viagra...ask your doctor. Feel bitchy ? Then blame it on PMS 'syndrome' (

so now it's a syndrome???) and take this pill (prozac based if I recall or one

of those anti-depressants) to mellow out...well criminy...is it 'undesirable' to

now be a woman who happens to not feel good the week before her cycle? Are we

so fast paced that we can't allow for the natural rhythm's of our bodies? Give

me a break. Is this a race to see if women can become as 'mechanical' as

business men? Know what I mean? What happened to Siesta's anyway? LOL...it's

disgusting! Why do we all have to feel 'perfect'? What's wrong with

imperfection and still being beautiful? I feel like an angel is going to appear

any second and say "you need to leave because we're destroying Sodom" (L.A.) and

I'm thinking "should I ask him to save it if I find 12 righteous men?

:::thinking::: NAWWWWWWWW...PLEASE blow it UP...k?" LOL

[you]

I met with some interesting persons. Unfortunately cannot say much.

Movie Stars and the throngs of glomming on wannabes can and do have

major problems and really suffer.

[me]

But these are problems of their own creation...self delusion and I have no

sympathy for that. I see it all dang day either on T.V. or in real life. "Woe

is me...Mariah Carey had a breakdown...she's been working too hard" uh

huh...yeah right...poor baby...what about my welfare clients that are working

three part time jobs, have five kids, live in poverty and STILL can't get off of

welfare AND have medical problems? She doesn't know what a 'real' problem IS if

it ran OVER her...geezuz. Get real people!

[you]

There are many beautiful woman here. They know it. They are advertising,

the highest bidder gets the prize, the cash is money and fame, the prize

a perfect female face and body to have and to hold, plastic included.

[me]

I call it 'sex on the hoof'...YUP...YOU got it! And when that face starts to

crumble...just trade it in for a younger model. Trust me there are high powered

females here who are wealthy and do the SAME thing to men (younger men to the

highest bidder) as well as the bisexual's and the homosexual's/lesbians...don't

know if you saw 'that' side yet but it's a 'given' here...any way you can enjoy

it is ok...go for it...why not? Don't have any personal standards...you're

'discriminatory' if you draw the line in associating with certain people

(whether it's the groups above, the ungodly...whoever) etc. Our evaluations now

include a section for 'getting along with others' WITHIN the group meaning you

succomb to pressure in socializing with your coworkers and the more you 'resist'

the more you are labelled 'a problem'. The heck with the fact that you do your

JOB well. Group mind mentality and delusion reign.

[you]

In this place without Krishna, I can only imagine the soul would get

completely entranced in the pursuit of this extreme passion this place

represents. This city revolves around sex and money like nowhere I've

ever seen.

[me]

I have to say this in defense but not necessarily true what you state above.

What you don't see is the silent group that lays low and does not participate in

outward visible ways. Raised in SRF here (yogananda) and there are many very

spiritual people who happen to choose to NOT participate in this bulls***.

Isolationists who find that sort of mentality positively repugnant. I don't

care how much plastic is injected...if you look into their eyes you will see the

emptiness...the ugliness of their 'spirit'. It's evident everywhere. Plastic

is as Plastic does. LOL.

[you]

The more power a man can weild and turn to cash, the more he

will get paid or "traditional" woman all over him here. It's the

"Krishna and the Gopis" game. The "look" that woman have to have here to

play the game is well known. You can buy it pretty much. Inserts,

enhancements, liposuction, and so many things like this are widely

available, with payment plans etc. They make it easy. So, woman are

paying to get the look, because the look is like a meal ticket here.

There's alot of men with money, and so there's alot of business in all

respects for those who have the look. From kind boyfriends to every

other level of negotiation, there's business here for a succulent babe.

[me]

YUP! Fortunately I found a very spiritual man who didn't care for that and took

me and my children (three at the time, one's grown up and the other two he's

adopting) and united us all as a family. Course he's a 'minority' and therefore

undesirable to a lot of people out there even though he's got a Master's and

makes decent money...he's still not 'wealthy'. I saw nothing but wealth in his

spirit and the beauty in his soul:o) He's always been an isolationist away from

worldly crap. NO thanks. Been there and done that and it ain't worth it.

[you]

I met one young female, who is scoring. She's apparently getting a major

dude player, names withheld. She admitted it wasn't the personality or

body, as both are not attractive to her. Then what's that leave? Money

and fame. Good enough, apparently. Would it be for you?

[me]

I used to live in Newport Beach (Corona del Mar) in a million dollar house at 19

<grin> and learned from those brief years how much I despised the behavior of

the wealthy. YUP...to the victor goes the spoils. I walked away from it ALL

because one day my spouse said on new year's even as he toasted his 'friend' "I

wonder what the poor are doing tonight"....<thud> I grew up poor and I didn't

think it had anything to do with my value as a PERSON. That was it...I left.

No thanks. I thought there was a heart in there somewhere but I see there was

not.

[you]

I feel like I'm in Rome just before you know what. It's pretty bizarre.

[me]

For me it's both...LOL. Where's Caligula, by the way? Seen him around? He'd

fit right in here.

[you]

Sincerety to serve God? Hmmm.

[me]

Now don't be as bad as the natives and only see the 'surface'. Look deeper

because there ARE a bunch of us here who DO take our faith sincerely and

practice our beliefs. We DO hold many things sacred dear. You just didn't see

us 'all' since we hide our temples in our homes and tend to our altar's, our

families and our responsibilities.

[you]

So I'm driving along thinking over the revelations of hanging out down

here for a week, and I see these two big stars in the early morning sky

above the Valley here. They shine brightly, hung there in the sky. They

seem small, like a little ornament in our LA night, decorating our LA sky.

[me]

I*'m listening to "I close my eyes...only for a moment but the moment's gone.

All my dreams...pass before my eyes in curiousity. Dust in the wind...all we

are is dust in the wind. Same old song....just a drop of water in an endless

sea. All we do crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see...dust in the

wind...all we are is dust in the wind." Reminds me of that arabic saying "My

grandfather rode a camel...my dad drove a car...I fly a plane...my son will fly

in a space shuttle...my grandson will fly to Mars and my greatgrandson will ride

a camel". Everything is in cycles. In some distant lifetime I will sit in the

same tree I grew up in and eat those oranges again and NOBODY will be there

except for us and our teepee's...<grin>

[you]

Am I skewed? You bet. We all are. We all have our vision focused

locally, and in this way we're terrified. If only we could use our

consciousness freed from our bodies, to perceive very widely, even if

just minutes a day, then perhaps the ladies wouldn't have to all pack

water balloons, and the guys could plant trees for an hour a day instead

of pumping iron. LA needs trees, not biceps and boobs.

Less plastic, more trees, that's a better Los Angeles, City of Angels.

[me]

Uhhh...there are people doing this Das. You just saw the outer wrapping on the

package. Don't judge a book by its cover:o)

[you]

I love LA, as it is, and as it could be, 10 Million Future Angels in

schooling. Ahhhh!

I'm driving along at 3:30. I'm thinking about my soul and Krishna. Even

the bars and prostitutes are all asleep now. Rest in peace for now my

brothers and sisters. Tommorrow try again, to find happiness. One day,

we will all have full happiness. One day, these lessons will be over,

and we'll be home again.

[me]

Did you read that allegory that I sent out awhile back...it is EXACTLY like

this.

[you]

Fortunate are we, as we agree to see. A small group of people celebrate

the Birth of the speaker of the Bhagavad Gita all night last night here

in Los Angeles. In the city of Angels, of 10 million humans, a couple

hundred celebrate the birth of He is most likely or eligible to be

called "God". The rest are otherwise engaged. Brave are we, when we step

in faith rather than the more visible. What we see will vanish, so it is

better to have faith in that which is not seen.

[me]

This too shall pass babe...this too shall pass! "Full of sound and fury

signifying NADA"

[you]

Easy to say, hard to do, what better pursuit exists for me and you?

Peace to Everyone on GJLIST with the Holy Name of Krishna.

Hare Krishna Hare Rama

And in rememberance of Bhaktivedanta Swami, who was kind enough to come

to us here. I do think, for as long as there are humans on Earth, he

will ALWAYS be remembered.

[me]

There are those of us who will never forget. Don't underestimate the power of

prayer and worship...the power of faith.

Love and Light...

I don't like buff either. In fact I don't look at looks at all. My spouse is

slim but doesn't work out and previous men I have dated or married have been

teddy bears. Doesn't matter to me. I hear ya!
