Guest guest
Dear Members, I'd be most grateful for any information anyone can offer on this...it's an area I'm not too sure of, and I'll never venture into something, or advise someone else of something unless I'm absolutely certain it's correct. I have too much respect for the power (both good and bad) of remedial measures to embark upon something I'm not totally sure of. I am presently in grave fear for my Son...knowing his chart and his present dasa periods, along with what's manifesting (totally in line with this period, and no surprise), I see his body collapsing under the onslaught more and more every day and am helpless to help him...in any real sense! Remedies that cost (anything) are out at this stage I'm afraid, and there's no way he will chant a mantra. But if I can do it for him I will do so day and night if necessary. But I have to know how wise and correct this is and what are the special conditions i.e. should I have his photo in front of me, etc... I would be grateful if those who know will pass their knowledge and experience onto me. Regards, Wendy
Guest guest
Well...I was told it was ok to do by James Braha (http://www.jamesbraha.com). To me it's no different than 'praying' on behalf of someone to God...right? Prayer is prayer no matter what language or to what face of Spirit you are invoking. Just my two cents worth. Guest guest
Dear Wendy ~ I am praying for you and your son. Prayer is such a powerful change agent! I've noticed that even when a situation is destined to occur and difficult to effect very much, I am still blessed through the process of prayer as Peace super-imposes It's sweet grace throughout my troubled consciousness. I am left with the transcendental assurance that I did as much as was humanly possible for myself and the recipient of my prayers. The mystic significance and power of a Mother's prayer for her young can never be fully comprehended or over-estimated in value. Each time we pray, we deposit immeasurable blessings directly into their spiritual account, whatever the outcome. One technique that I have used faithfully over the years for my twin sons and I and still continue to use for both sons, (even though one of my boy's passed away last April) is this: I always begin with a formal statement that this sadhana is being offered on behalf of my twin sons and I. As I chant my first round of japa, I visualize my own and my sons' first house. I do a complete round of 108 recitations and while I chant, I imagine that each syllable of the holy sounds are delicately polishing and shining and cleaning our lagna. Then I move on to our second house, cleaning and polishing for the whole 108 recitations. Then the third and the fourth house and I continue until I've polished and shined all 12 houses. I believe that I have become a very good house-keeper and mother through this practice. I hope this offering will be of use to you. Guest guest
Dear Wendy, Namaste - You can chant mantras on behalf of someone else, and the effects will be evident. In consideration of conditions which effect health and longevity, the mantra to chant is the Maha-Mrtyunjaya mantra, which invokes the protection of Lord Shiva. If a relative, for example, is ailing, and no other conventional or nonconventional measures help, then invoking the attention of Lord Mahadeva (Shiva) is your best recourse. Then considering the fact that entanglement in the repetitions of births and deaths is in itself the disease of the conditional soul, then chanting to Lord Krsna (Vishnu/Narayana) will enable not only you, but the person on whose behalf you are chanting, to attain moksha, whether or not that is indicated in the astrological chart. So the effects of Prarabdha (past sins or transgressions), and Purushartha (current life misuse of free will) can be most effectively alleviated by propitiating the most powerful of Gods, Krsna and Shiva respectively. Do the following mantras at least 108 times, or more, per day on behalf of your son: MAHA MRTYUNJAYA MANTRA To be chanted on behalf of Lord Shiva for protection from all calamities OM TRAYAMBAKAM YAJAMAHE SUGANDHIM PUSHTI VARDHANAM URVA RUKHAM IVA BANDHANAN MRITYOR MUKSHIYAM AMRITAT "I take shelter in the three-eyed Lord Shiva. May He bless me with health and immortality and sever me from the clutches of death, even as a cucumber is severed from its creeper". The Mantra can be chanted for one's own benefit, or on behalf of a loved one who may have fallen into some kind of adversity, even potential death. In India, the Sadhus chant this Mantra to propitiate Lord Shiva, whenever someone comes to them with serious illness in the family. Rigorous and regular chanting of this Mantra, along with the Maha-mantra, will certainly draw the protection of Lord Shiva for oneself and family. THE HARE KRSNA (pronounced "Krishna") MANTRA Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare Recite the mantra as many times per day as possible. Especially do it at the time of going to bed, when you get up, as well as in any situation wherein there is danger or mental anxiety. Guest guest
Many, Many, Many thanks Robert, Fortunately I am familiar with both Mahamrtyunjaya and Hare Krsna mantras, having chanted both at times of great distress (and received benefit). What I was in great doubt about was the appropriateness of performing (remedial) measures on someone else's behalf. I am now confident that this (apart from being at his constant beck and call) will be of significant help to my Son. He is such a tortured Soul and it is he who is killing himself, and now finally his body is unable to withstand it. His whole body is puffed up like a balloon and he's so sick... nauseous... his breathing stops every now and then (briefly), and when he comes to he's in this awful nightmare. He reminds me of how Elvis Presley looked shortly before his death. He's full of fear and is having dreadful psychotic episodes. He's been on this path of destruction for years, ever since he injured his back. The prescription painkillers he's on are more powerful than morphine ( his Dr. switched him onto these when the morphine were no longer helping). This is a dreadful drug...he's supposed to take only one twice a day...he's been taking them every few hours for God knows how long....and the Bl**dy Dr. just keeps supplying him!! Now his body just can't take it anymore, but he keeps taking them because to stop throws him into the pits of hell and he's too afraid to go there. He cries out to me: "Mum help me!" and my heart cries rivers of blood. I have made an appt. for him to see a very good magnetic therapist on Monday...hoping that if we can manage his pain we may then stand a chance of getting him off the medication. But he's so bad at the moment I fear he won't make it to Monday...perhaps I'm just tired! My apologies for this long post and I don't mean to be a seeker of sympathy...we all suffer, I know...there is nothing unique in my situation. My husband turns a blind eye to my Son's suffering, whilst my Son's millionaire father jaunts off on his holiday overseas. I guess the suffering is just my Son's and mine to bear...so be it! Guest guest
Dear Wendy, At 01:31 AM 7/6/01 +0800, you wrote: >Many, Many, Many thanks Robert, You are very welcome - I am happy to assist. The practise of a relative, doing puja, japa, or seva on behalf of a family member, has been customary in Hindu/Vedic culture since forever. For example, the eldest son is recommended to go to a temple of Vishnu, and offer Pinda (donations) on behalf of deceased forefathers. This act is said to be so powerful, than even forefathers having descended to hell, could be relieved of such a condition of life and reinstated in human form. So similarly, you can chant and do other auspicious services on behalf of your son, and the efforts will not go in vain. Both you and your son become fortunate by your doing so. I do hope that your son is relieved of these terrible afflictions that you have described, by the grace of the All Powerful. Best wishes, Robert ===================================== Robert A. Guest guest
Hi I am very new to the list and am fascinated by the discussions going on. Hopefully someday I'll know enough to be able to contribute something meaningful. A recent discussion I was having with a friend about Hindu philosophy, etc. prompted me to reply to this email. This is probably not the right forum for this kind of discussion though. | said to be so powerful, than even forefathers having descended to hell, | could be relieved of such a condition of life and reinstated in human form. While I agree with the views about praying for someone else, I was curious about something else mentioned above. Based on the limited knowledge that I have and from talking to some other people, I was of the opinion that the vedas do not talk about the concept of a hell at all as far a life after death is concerned. I have heard about demons and "naragam" (meaning hell), but never in the context of going to hell after dying, always as a metaphor in stories. I haven't had the good fortune of reading the vedas themselves, so I could be wrong about this. I am hoping some of the more learned members of this list could enlighten me on this subject. Thanks Vinod

Guest guest
Dear Listmembers Is it possible to get a list or find a book that lists the appropriate mantras to chant for various people in our lives, in various situations? for example, which mantra would be best for wishing safe journeys? which for safe and healthy pregnancy? etc. I dont know if specific mantras would be more effective than simple heartfelt prayers, I have very little experience in either. thanks in advance marcia

Guest guest
Dear Wendy, I feel humbled by your courage during this difficult time, and pray for your strength and for that of your son, and for those near you who might offer kind support to both of you. It appears to me your son is experiencing self-poisoning, and my immediate thought is not an expensive one, but may be of help. If it possible for him to drink some charcoal mix--this can be supplied by the doctor or hospital or chemist--this would help to bring down some of the reaction to too much toxins. A cloth saturated with castor oil, then wrung out a bit so it won't drip all over--place this on his abdomen or anywhere he will allow it, with preferably a heating pad on top to help the oil soothe into the pores, will provide an inexpensive but effective help, and the oil is also nutritive so it will be a minor food source as well. Castor oil is "Palma Christi" in Latin; it has healed diverse conditions. Cranberry capsules will assist his urinary tract to get poisons out, also, with water sipped as much as can be taken. If food is able to be taken, oatmeal helps with breathing. Prepare this with water and a small amount of honey or sweetener. It helps horses win races; it helps asthmatics regain their breath. Cayce said that a charred oak keg with a small amount of apple brandy poured inside it (the keg is small-sized) and a tent of cloth or plastic drawn over the keg so the person may go under the tent to deeply inhale the brandy fumes, will restore breath to those struggling for air. Improvise wherever it's needed, Wendy, and know we are many, praying for a safe recovery for your son. We pray for his wellbeing right now, sending love and strength to both of you right now. As you climb to the top of this steep mountain, know unseen help is at hand. With much love, Carol

Guest guest
Dear Ravinder, If the lord of the 12th is in 12th then, upapada would fall in 9th house If the lord of the 12th is in 6th, 9th house again. However be careful in case of Dhanu and Meen lagna, since in case of dhanu, 12th would be ruled by both ketu and mars, while in case of meen, rahu and saturn would rule 12th. I happen to have some Cranberry capsules at hand and will see that they get to him today...the charcoal etc. I will also try to get today. Yesterday was Guru Purnima day (Thursday here) and I was watching my very beautiful video with Maharishi offering Puja to Guru Dev, and pundits singing hymns of the Rig Veda when Andrew phoned. He was quite distressed and after speaking for only a minute or two he passed out (as he frequently does). I sat holding the phone, fearing that he'd be even more distressed when he came to...but no! he was in fact much calmer and the first thing he said was: "Is that a tape or CD you've got playing?" I told him what it was and he said that, although he didn't know why, my music always had a calming effect on him. I wished that he'd take some of the tapes I have and listen to them at home but for some inexplicable reason he just won't do it. Any benefit that he gets in this way seems to have to come through me...he will not do it for himself. Full Moon in own home in 5th (in nakshatra of Lagnesh Jupiter) probably explains this. Best Regards, Wendy > Dear Wendy, > I feel humbled by your courage during this difficult time, and pray > for your strength and for that of your son, and for those near you who might > offer kind support to both of you. > > It appears to me your son is experiencing self-poisoning, and my > immediate thought is not an expensive one, but may be of help. Guest guest
But of course nothing is inexplicable in jyotish...... 9th lord (remedies/yagyas) Mars combust 6th lord (obstacles/hindrances) Sun, suggests that he (himself) may be inimically disposed towards remedial measures etc. and/or may find insurmountable obstacles in his path. However the aspect from 5th lord Moon...... Wendy > but for some inexplicable reason he just won't do it. Guest guest
Dear Ravinder, If the lord of 12th is in the 12th or 6th house then the Upa-pada for that particular case would be in the 12th house itself. However, there is another theory which suggests that it would fall in the 9th house, but I dont to it. regards, Manoj _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
