Guest guest
Hi All: Since nobody has followed up the answer with an explanation of how the astrology could have worked, I thought I'd offer up my own views. As always, hindsight is 20/20. I think one reason no one has gone into it is because there are no simple answers here. She was running Rahu-Mercury (for both geo and parallax Moon positions) at the time of marriage. Rahu has a connection with marriage but it's twice removed: Rahu's dispositor is Jupiter and it's aspected closely by karaka Venus. That's fine and makes sense but we can also see that many other dasha periods could have brought marriage. Jupiter itself starting in 1975 would have been good dasha for marriage since it's aspected by Venus, and Saturn too for that matter since it's in the 7th house. Possible antardasha periods for marriage besides those already mentioned are Sun since it is 7th lord. Why Mercury though? It is dispositor of the 7th lord Sun, but that's pretty flimsy by itself. If we're trying to stick to just the vimshottari dasha system (I'll leave the jaimini analysis to its more competent practiioners), then the marriage only makes sense when you bring a Moon as lagna into the analysis. Rahu is in 7th house and Mercury is 1st lord -- a classic combination for marriage. The real question we ought to be asking here is how do you know when to look to the chandra lagna chart? Some might say that you take the *stronger* of Moon and Ascendant as lagna. Fine, but not always easy to figure. Here Moon is afflicted by Ketu (or is that really an affliction since dispositor Mercury is in 9th?) and Mercury itself is afflicted by Mars albeit in the sign of a friend. It receives a benefit aspect from fallen Jupiter. Ascendant is aspected by its own lord so that ought to make it stronger although Asc ruler Saturn is aspected by Mars. Any ideas out there? It's the usual six of one, half a dozen of another... Another neat point about Rahu's and Mercury's role in marriage comes from the navamsha. Pisces rises and thus Mercury is in the 7th in Virgo. Rahu is in lagna in Pisces. A very clear indication of marriage at this time I would say. This also strongly argues against the possibility of Aquarius rising as Zoran and Narayan had suggested. Transits give support to the whole idea of the chandra chart. Dasha lord Rahu (28Pi14) was in the 7th conjunct its natal position. Saturn (15Pi56) was also transiting the chandra 7th -- and conjunct or aspecting both the navamsha placements of Rahu and Mercury -- and aspecting Mercury in the 4th. I think Saturn had a lot of marital energy here because of its natal 7th house placement. Jupiter (8Le17) by transiting the 7th is almost the odd man out here. It has no connection with the chandra 7th at all but is in a very close conjunction with Saturn the only planet in the 7th. FWIW, both Sun and Mercury were in Aquarius aspecting the 7th. I think what's important here is that there is a mixing of hits to both Asc and Chandra charts. No chart completely operates alone. Both 7th houses had to be activated by transits and dashas. There are also some fairly clear timing indications using western progression techniques made famous by Rick Houck. Perhaps the clearest is that the tertiary progressed angles were squaring natal Jupiter, the chandra 7th lord and closely aspected by Venus, with less than one degree orb. These angles move at a rate of about one degree per month. I'll post something about her husband's death tomorrow. Chris
