>I did not write that she emigrated on Dec 3, 1974, but I did see emigration

>clearly. It is actually quite obvious in her chart, so why do you say that

>none would have predicted it?

I think I was referring to the timing question. I agree that emigration

was evident in the natal chart but predicting when natal configurations

will come to pass in another kettle of fish altogether.

>For instance I find the information that the event took place IN Manila

>misleading, because the event was MOVING FROM Manila to Canada. Ofcourse the

>journey STARTED in Manila, but when you say that the event took place IN

>Manila ONE THINKS ONLY OF THINGS WHICH CAN HAPPEN IN ONE PLACE FORM THE

>BEGINNING UNTILL THE END.

Right. This is the same point Pursottam made. I addressed this in a post

to Mani but I'll repeat it here. Stating the location of the event is

standard practice in western astrology and it's something that is done on

the two other quiz groups I participate in, one of which is vedic. I

understand how you could have got tripped up by this but it really wasn't

meant to confuse. I would assume that a location for a journey would be

the departure point. I just put it in for a greater understanding of the

chart in case someone wanted to cast a solar/lunar return or cast a

progressed chart. These charts require a location. Sorry for the confusion.

>Also, emigrating from Philipines to Canada takes longer time than one day:

>she probably considered it for a while, then she had to apply for a visa,

>and to wait for the reply, and so on. So I would say that emigrating is A

>PROCESS WHICH HAPPENS OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. The day when she finaly got on

>a plane marks the end of that period, and the beginning of the period of

>settling in a new environment, which somehow belongs to the period of

>emigrating as well. SO WHEN YOU ASK WHAT HAPPENED ON DEC. 3, 1974, I THINK

>OF THINGS WHICH TAKE NOT LONGER THAN ONE DAY TO HAPPEN, AND EMIGRATING IS

>NOT ONE OF THE POSSIBILITIES.

Fair enough. But then falling in love takes a while too (usually!) but we

speak of marriage occurring on one day only. The physical removal of the

self from the former place of residence strikes me as a good testable sort

of event because it happens on one day only. Visa applications and what

not take months as you say, but the day you get on that plane/boat/whatever

is the day you remember for the rest of your life.

And if a client goes to you and asks about likely dates for emigration,

you'll likely not talk about application dates, etc. You'll talk about the

day of leaving.

don't think I'm the only one whos thinking can be led into this or that

>direction by certain formulations, so please bear this on mind when

>formulating the next question. Perhaps this event was not suitable for our

>Quiz because if you gave us a precise information about the place of the

>event you would have given us the answer as well. As the time you should

>have given us, in my opinion, the whole period.

Yeah, whole periods might be pertinent depending on the question. But it

makes it less amenable to testing too. Or maybe it's just my preference

for clearly defined dates. A period of spiritual awakening can last for a

month, for example, so a quiz question would have to allow for that. But

what would that question look like? Or going back to the love question,

you could ask a quiz question about which day someone met their future

partner, or a period of falling in love? To me, it's just clearer to ask

about things that have a clear time marker. Doesn't mean we can't have

tests that are period-based, it just seems a bit more difficult to me.
