Hard to predict, and yet it happened! Reality is the best teacher -- after our mistakes. > >With Jupiter in the 12th house of foreign lands it is clear that the Jupiter >mahadahsa would have been the time she would be living in a foreign country. But wouldn't the key question be: when would she move to a foreign country? There were a number of dasha options for this, really far too many since she had three or four planets involved in the 4/7/12 emigration complex. Rahu was implicated, as was Jupiter, and Saturn, and Mars and Mercury too since it was in the 4th. That's one of the lessons here, that dashas only take you so far down the path. There are usually too many possibilities to use them in a precise way. That's why you have to find a way to match them with transits or some other dasha system or some other technique entirely. I note, for example, that the eclipse before the event, a lunar eclipse on Nov 29 1974, occurred at 13Ta35 -- smack dab in her 4th house and just 3 degrees from her equal 4th house cusp. >When I showed this chart to Pundit he actually said straight out that this >woman would have left the country of birth at this time as Jupiter in the >12th house would put her in a foreign country and she was going to enter >Jupiter mahadasha immediately after this Mars sub period. I still think it >was very hard to actually say it is clear she would emigrate on this day. Again, the question is why didn't she wait until Jupiter to emigrate? It's a pretty basic question and if we can't answer it or don't want to, I think we have to reconsider what we're doing here. This is not a trivial life event, it's one of huge importance. It behooves us to explain it. Facts precede theory, not the other way around. > >I would suggest we at first start with very blatant events like death of a >parent or partner or actual death of the chart owner. We need to start with >the obvious as the day of somebody emigrating is very hard to try to >predict. Both are important, why privilege one over another? And how many clients want to talk about death anyway? Not many in my experience. Astrology has to be practical and address real life concerns. I have a one excellent chart here I would like to put up with a >very clear major event where I have exact times for. Can I put my chart up >next ? >It is a major event involving some very interesting things. Sure, but I'd like to post another quiz first based on this chart data. My thinking here is to vary the formats from time to time. Quiz 1 was a sort of open-ended test where nothing was known other than the date of the event. I would like Quiz 2 to be close-ended so that the event is known but the date is not. When you think about it, this is a more familiar type of situation that confronts the working astrologer with clients. People come to astrologers with choices to make, and options to consider and so it's up to us to give advice about outcomes and likely dates. The date of an event is one way we help people make decisions in their lives. I'll post it in a few days after the discussion has concluded.
