Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!!

Namaste dear list members!

i've an acquaintance that i met at various Amma retreats over the

years...he's an interesting case...and to me he seems a somewhat

urgent one...when i saw him last, on June 3rd, he was very high, on

the manic side of bi-polar...thus his mind is running nonstop, and

his

mouth as well, or he's got to be writing...obsessive compulsive about

the writing...the poor man seemed so vata, that he was almost out of

this world....overstimulated would be a good word, so i suggested

that

he should try to not talk so much (good luck!) and bring his

attention

more to his breath, and his heart area...(i was trying to get him to

be quiet as he was disturbing the neighbourhood during the

satsang....it was hard to concentrate on the satsang, and the

neighbours let us know!...but the poor man was UNABLE to get a handle

on it...had been up the night be fore, apparently took his meds, but

who knows....

His pitiable condition just wrung my heart, my dear ones, as he is

actually a sweet and loveable man if only he could slow down a

bit...and work out the anger!! he was seething with anger over his

step-father's mistreatment of his beloved mother, right in front of

my

friend...he said this was what precipitated the crisis...the nervous

breakdown, which led to the bipolar disorder...it is still obsessing

him as one could easily tell if one listened at all to the poor guy...

now dear friends, i have looked at this guy's chart a bit, and i've

noticed that natally, he's got that Rahu-Ketu axis going thru the 4th

House (Libra)...which when i've been exploring thru Goravani Jyotish,

i find

in the Karakas, that 4th house is also karaka for emotional mind as

well as mother, as well as "home" (the place where he saw her being

abused) and ketu is in there...Ketu and Rahu also have interesting

connotations towards mental disease and towards violence in one's

life, as we've discussed before....in fact i'm beginning to wonder IF

Rahu/Ketu Axis isn't a karaka for bipolar disorder!!!!or for being too

"up" or too "down" Rahu signifying the "up" and Ketu, the dead body,

signifying the "down"....

He's a cancer lagna, and was running Moon Venus Merc Merc (Venus is

ruler of the 4th and in the 11th (in Aries transitting natal Rahu on

that

day),Moon, ruler of the 1st, the lagna, was transitting Natal Ketu in

Libra the 4th house, that day (june 3, 2001) and Mercury ruler of the

3rd and the 12th, was retrograde IN

the

12th transitwise...Mercury is a mind Karaka, retrograde. Venus is 4th

lord (mother) and emotional mind Karaka in the 10th transitting natal

Rahu...Moon, Parashara Karaka for the emotional Mind, and the Mother

was transitting thru the 4th house!!, and had transitted his natal

ketu recently..the 4th house is seemingly very important for this

man.......

in his natal chart the man's Venus (emotional mind and MOTHER) is

afflicted

in Aquarius, by Sun (Father!) and a combust Mars (VIOLENCE), all of

whom are in the 8th House!

Saturn, ruler of 7th and 8th houses is natally in the 2nd, and

transitting with Sun and Jupiter thru Taurus, his 11th house...

....so here i will give his Natal information to all of you...it's a

lot easier...you can erect your own charts, and so on....

i had seen that my friend seemed very vata...unbalancedly vata...so

vata, that he might not remember to take his meds if not reminded,

and

thus he has to live in a group home...but on the other hand is very

intelligent!!...he thinks of himself as a pundit...and has been given

the name Valmiki by i don't know who...

so the information is:

The reason i am posting this is out of caring for my friend,

knowing that i am only a student jyotishi, i thought i would submit

this case to my friends and teachers on this list, who all put

together, know a lot of jyotish.....

i was hoping that after a "diagnosis", that we could think somewhat

of

effective remedies, remembering this man's current limitations...

any effective counself from all the list members would be greatly

appreciated...this is not a test case, it is a real person that i

would like to provide some comfort and aid to....

If anyone has any interesting input for the above, i welcome it....

i so far think that we must somehow calm down the Vata "pacify" Vata

i

think it's called....now i also think that Rahu and Ketu have a LOT

to

do with this gentleman's illness....as well as the Sun combust Mars

menacing Venus (the mother) in the 8th house....

any advice that is not TOO expensive to carry out, would be greatly

appreciated.

Hi Visvanathan, I'm looking forward to following along with this. My

little brother was diagnosed with bipolar also, I don't care much for

that diagnosis though, but anyways, it's the same label as your friend.

His birthday is Feb 11, 1975 4:47am on Agana, Guam you can compare their

charts if you'd like. I'm not sure how solo rahu and ketu behave, the

only yogas I know though for solo nodes is the kalasarpa and mother's

curse yoga.

One thing that catches my eye right away, is that your friend and my

little brother both have Mars and Saturn aspecting each other (by 7th

aspect) and as a side observation, they both have Mars (4th asp) and

Saturn (10th aspect) aspecting the arudha of the 2nd (how others

perceive our speech) and then both have a Saturn exchange with a similar

connection, your friend has Saturn, 7th and 8th lord, in 2nd in exchange

with Sun in the 8th and my litlle brother has Saturn in 7th in exchange

with Mercury in 2nd conjunct the 8th lord, and then both have Saturn in

the 6th house from the moon, my guess, the 6th from moon shows mental

illness, so I think in their cases Saturn is the most important factor

in their charts for diagnosing their mentality. It seems like there'd

also be a connection, seeing it in the way like in your chart, you have

them conjunct and you mentioned before Saturn is a restrictng force on

Mars, the blood flow for you, you get terribly painful migraines that

knock you on your butt, there's certain things you said you're just

incapable of doing, so I think it may have the same effect in their

charts too, except the incapacity and regulation would go straight to

their minds, Angie

Hi Visvanathan, I just noticed I goofed my arudha of the 2nd

calculations, I don't know what I was thinking, but anyways, I hope I

didn't confuse you as much as I confused myself :) but Valmiki has Mars,

Saturn and Jupiter aspecting, and Andre has Rahu only in it, so the

arudha situation isn't similar like I thought. I think though for the

psychological disorders, it's more about how the energy they receive get

channeled, in both Valmiki and Andre's case, it comes out their tongues,

seemingly distorted becasue it's too much I think, whereas in other

cases, it might come out maybe through writing, painting, or pretty much

any other way of expressing your mind. I probably wasn't clear before,

my mind also gets carried away too :) (saturn and ketu in 6th from

moon) but, the main connection I was trying for you to see that I saw

was that the speech is affected because the exchange involving Saturn

and the 2nd house is with the same lord as the 6th lord from moon and I

think the Mars ~ Saturn connection has to get thrown in there also

because Mars rules the 5th, but I don't know how moolitrikona works

really, but I think it's connected :). Ok, well, that's it, I hope

Valmiki can get some help, Angie

Thank you for posting this letter this is my first time to reply to a letter

and I just received my GJ software and got it running yesterday so I am very

new at this.

My beautiful 20 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with bi polar

(manic-depressive) after a suicide attempt she had been thru a surgery and

was in her 2nd year of college. We thought a recent break up with a boyfriend

may have triggered it.

Her birth date is

May11,1981

Valencia California USA

I have printed out the letters regarding this subject to study for my own

understanding. Any help anyone can give me if this is in her chart. It would

be very much appreciated

Thanks

,

My daughter had me read the book as soon as she was diagnosed, but I am

looking for more answers and possible clues thru her chart. My mother in law

had her chart done a few years a go. I cannot read it as it is in an Indian

language called guarjarti and what little I got from it was this doom & gloom

sort of thing so now I would like to know what her chart really said and do

some comparison charts on other people with this disorder. Its a mothers

Dear Joy,

This is not astrological interpretation, but rather a suggestion regarding

your daughter and her recent diagnosis. You may be interested in a

wonderful, very informative book by Dr. Kay Jamison, who is a professor of

psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University, and is, herself, manic-depressive.

The title of the book is: "Unquiet Mind". It's a courageous self-expose' of

Dr Jamison's own personal and professional experience with this illness

which is clearly genetic in origin; and that genetic predisposition can

very easily be triggered by stress. It is also a highly treatable disorder,

allowing those who suffer from it to eventually lead quite normal and

productive lives.

Saturn can be a restricting influence, but there are ways to alleviate

this--it takes careful thinking about what is being restricted, and how best

to combat that influence. Migraines, said Edgar Cayce, are most commonly

caused by toxins in the bloodstream from a lack of elimination of same.

Mental illness can be caused by spinal misalignment producing restrictions in

the free flow of nerve impulses and blood circulation from extremities

through the spinal column up to the head.

Determine what the actual restriction seems to be, then work to find a

release for it. My son had mental illness so severe he was hospitalized for

3 weeks and discharged with a diagnosis of incurable, lifelone acute bipolar

disorder plus schizophrenia (now called schizo-affective disorder), about 2

years ago. He's fine today, holds a job, is intelligent, creative, and

clearminded.

I gave him megavitamin therapy, had him receive regular chiropractic

adjustments, and filled him with living food (both salads, fruits, other live

foodstuffs, and 1/2 hour per day he received 'food' from the New Testament,

to let him remember what he had said 2,000 years ago when he 'was' this man

Jesus who he was telling me that he was.)

Remember there is nothing to stop you from finding out a cure for a unique

person. Nothing but static theory will stop you from finding and using a

unique approach that will attune the patient to the perfect health he/she is

entitled to. Nothing but dogma stands in your way. And if the current

situation is not getting better, then the years are passing and it's time to

open to the possibility of a cure from a different direction entirely. Ask

God to point you in the right direction, give you the right hints in your

life, and give you courage to bravely use those hints despite what everyone

in the static world thinks. Health is around the corner--don't stop before

turning that corner! Miracles await the seeker, not the one who accepts the

status quo. By the way, my son's doctors were horrified I was giving him St.

John's Wort. But they admitted he was improving. Now please explain that

two-sided reaction from them!....it's not their fault, it's just that they

to static theory and others believe in a living God.

Best to all,

Carol

You can get a chart done free on the web by

astrodienst or by a site that was just given to this

list. If you go back thru the posts you should be

able to find it. Then you can get a book called

"Ancient Hindu Astrology for the Modern Western

Astrologer" by James T. Braha.

You can look up all the aspects and kind of get a feel

for Hindu astrology from this book. It is a good way

to learn and do a chart at the same time.

Hello Joy.

Consulting Rasi in this case may seem abit flawed. 4th lord Sun is in the 12th

but exalted and with Mars, Venus and Mercury, which is hardly enough to produce

any disorder in happiness, but rather take the person into pursuits of the

sleeping state. i.e. meditation. This is further enhanced as Venus is

atmakaraka.

However;

The 5th house(2nd from 4th) is joined by retro-Saturn and retro-Jup, giving

"un-peace" of mind(4th), due to relationship(5th). Hence this can produce

disorders, due to Jupiters-retro. Interestingly enough the Darapada(7th arudha

pada) is in the 5th house as well.

Lord of 5th; Mercury in the 12th with 4 other planets, shows the way to heal

this ailment:

Venus+Mercury is a yoga for medication, in the 12th this is supported. The 12th

house also rules the same. As the 12th house has a Raja yoga combination, the

culminating of the Raja Yoga will happen when she is rid of her ailments.

Moon is in 11th house, joining the Mrityu Pada(8th Arudha Pada) and

unfortunately also in 12th from Mars. Mars always causes problems with planets

in the 12th from it. So happiness is obstructed(12th from Mars), and gives a

chronic ailment(mrityupada).

Jupiter seems to have given the event in its Antar Dasa, this makes sense.

When Jupiter goes retrogade nextime, she may feel some definite progress.

Now if you wanto see this ailment in a clearcut fashion; look to Trimsamsa(D-30)

and look for Natural significator of the Mind(emotions, (un)happiness); i.e.

Moon. The placement of Moon should show the ailment in a clearcut fashion.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes, Visti.

Dear Joy,

Chart of your daughter clearly indicates emotional setbacks in life thru

relationship and children.

In her chart the Mercury(lord of emotions)is severly afflicted by malefic

Ketu.

These days she is in the period of Saturn which is also placed in the 5th

house of Mercury and under influence of obstruction lord Jupiter & Ketu

also.

The period of Saturn will last upto 10/2001. Saturn has affliction of 2 deg.

by planet Jupiter & Ketu but the coming period of Mercury will be more

difficult for her in emotions, relatioship, learning studies etc as Mercury

is afflicted by Ketu of only diff. of 1 deg.

Strengthning of Mercury & Saturn by wearing of Kavach will be helpful.

With Best Wishes

Hi Again Joy.

I would like to stress a point here to avoid confusion of beginners.

You've been given two interpretations from Me and Narinder, which are quite

different i must admit.

Narinder uses Systems Approach, method of Jyotish and I study Parasari

Jyotish(with help from Jaimini), taught by Sanjay Rath. This point should be

stressed to avoid confusion, as we clearly give different reasonings.

Best wishes, Visti.

Hi Carol, thank you for sharing about our soon, I'm glad he pulled

through, well, both of you, you sound like a great support in his life

:)

In Valmiki's case, I think the source was pinpointed to his anger

towards his stepfather treating his mother badly, what set the course

anyways, I wouldn't know where to take it from there though.

Thanks for mentioning about Edgar Cayce, I have never read any of his

books but I have heard an awful lot about him, he must have been a very

gifted man. My brother, well, I don't live as close to him as my

parents do, so I didn't see his manic side but only a couple times, but

one time last summer when I did visit him (and my parents for lunch and

a visit), his back had been hurt, pulled or twisted from his job, and he

was very excitable. He went to a chiropractor the day previous to my

visit, and afterwards he insisted he felt much better and did all sorts

of physical activity (not good, it just prolonged the injury)....well

anyways, the thing he was talking about non-stop was the bible, God,

Jesus, creation, and that everyone was against him because of his faith,

and that no one is seeing clearly, and he cried......I think for him the

source is too much love, and his big stress was always ~`it never hurts

anyone to learn about love`~ Well anyways, about the toxins though, in

high school he did do acid, and afterwards, a few months later, he

talked to me and told me he felt that when he hurt his back that those

two were connected since he was very high up there, preaching. But

about that even, I never thought he was crazy, just intimidating to me

through his voice when he preached, I don't care though for so much

excitablity in general, so for him I think it's all about letting the

message out without scaring people away, and I know he'll get better

because it is a good message :) (currently he's living with my parents,

getting really good healthy foods, they're health nuts) but the

medication is making him a zombie, now he's not preaching at all, and

that makes me sad. Well, I know with my parents he's in very good

hands, they opt for the alternative remedies, so when he's ready I

guess, Angie

Guest guest

sorry for the confusion on my daughters birth chart, I sent out 2 letters

after realizing I had forgotten the time on the first one. You must have

read the first letter. Her data is as follows:

8:30am

May 1981

Valencia California USA

Thank you for your friends chart as I interested in studing & reading charts

of other people with this disorder

In love & light

Joy
