Guest guest
Dear G.Kumar, many thanks for this survey on ayanamsa. Please tell me which ayanamsa is the best corresponding with our actual planetary situation. In my astronomical "garden calendry" and another star calendry they mention that mars is in scorpio again since may 24. But all my astrology programms had mars still in sagittarius about 3° on this day (Lahiri ayanamsa). Some events in my surrounding however let me believe that mars really is already in scorpio. What is your experience if you would ignore all these 10000 odd astrologers? regards Ilona
Guest guest
Dear Ilona, This is a difficult question since Lahiri is taken of as the standard. No one knows clearly when the 2 Zodiacs coincided. I checked the planetary position on May 24. My sw informs me that Mars is in Sag. With Raman's Ayanamsa again it will be the same. Mars will be in Sag. What sort of experiences makes you feel that Mars is in Scorpio? Dear Ilona, What calendars are these? The only way Mars was in Scorpio on 24 May is by using the Djwhal Khul ayanamsa, used by a group called Ageless Wsdom, which believes that the aquarian age begins in 2117 - don´t know why. The ayanamsa for 1.1.1900 would be 25°57´47", rate 50.256 secs/year. Try it for fun! Yo will have to think of vimsottari very differently, I guess. regards Mani
Guest guest
Dear G Kumar, dear Mani, first to my calendar. The german title is "STERNKALENDER Ostern 2001/2002" ISBN 3-7235-1097-3 by Philosophisch-Anthroposophischer Verlag Goetheanum Dornach/ Suisse The author Wolfgang Held does not mention any ayanamsa and refers to astronomical basics 2001 and 2002 Heidelberg (germany) and own calculations. Until now this calendar was very exact and I`m using it since several years. Secondly G Kumar`s question regarding the events being possibly connected with mars` earlier ingress in scorpio were the following, although very personal observations: since mid february (12.) when mars entered sorpio, he aspected my taurus ascendent and I suffered from sore throat permanently until the end of april, when mars went in sagittarius. Miraculously my throat became well then, just until may 24. when mars came back into scorpio. By the way, those patients of mine, being also related to taurus, phoned me since this day, suffering sore throats. The other observation is the weather here in our region, which of course is different in other regions - inspite of mars -. Temperature falls drastically, it got rainy and: the sign for red mars in watery scorpio: red snakes begin to increase now. There were some other events, but they also could have been provoked by different factors. So I don`t want to drive mars into scorpio when he really is in sagittarius, but I want to know, if there are several realities or if there might be a calculation mistake either in my calendar or in my program or if it is "only" a question of ayanamsa. Having nothing to do with the problem above, but because it`s very interesting : Additionally I would like to give you the following statement out of my STERNKALENDER, regarding the total eclipse and mars. "The triple event on june 21" "On 13rd of this month, mars is in opposition to the sun. Meaning he stands exactly opposite the sun in the zodiac and thus nearest to the earth. But due to the different orbital inclination of earth and mars there will be a little shifting: even on june 21. 24:00 (all german times) the red planet will be really closest to the earth. It is mysterious, so that three very special astromomical events will take place in close temporal vicinity: summer solstice 9:38 (germany) , maximal eclipse 13:58 and mars closest to the earth (24:00)! Eclipse is exactly on that day where the proportion of sun and earth culminates: it is the longest day on northern hemisphere and the longest night on southern hemisphere. Now eclipse is taking place on southern hemisphere, in africa, so that the "christmasmotif" - meaning the lights victory over the darkness - , reduces, compresses and increases itself to a few minutes. While normally the winter solstice is a process of several weeks, yet months, now this spectacle of nature takes place within shortest time." Astrologically there might be some serious mundane consequences. Regards, Ilona

I have not heard of anthroposophical astrology, thought Steiner used the tropical zodiac like Jung. But his association with theosophy might have led him to change over to the sidereal. The Djwhal Khul ayanamsa is interesting for the following reason: it puts the star Krittika, Alcyone, at 0° Taurus (with a slight correction). In verdic times this was the start of the zodian, not Aswini in Aries. But if the ancient idea that the cosmos revolves around Alcyone is true, this could make sense! regards Mani
