Guest guest
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! Namaste dear ones!! thank you so much Patrice for that wonderful information re EFA's and the various sources you have read...i had even wondered about them and migraines over the years but just hadn't seen THOSE books, and thus didn't think to give it a try...but it makes sense from what you are saying and paraphrasing...i had read from Andrew Weil about the value of Flax seeds for their oil, but he hadn't mentioned migraines...he was more interested in such diseases as cancer and heart disease and such things...but it still looked interesting... The smoothie looks interesting except that bananas can be a migraine trigger too! Especially if quite ripe...and citrus is a known trigger also!!...in fact the list of triggers of migraine is APPALLING...it's so long i don't even want to read it all...and many of them do it to me!!! for example fluorescent lights...which the energy companies are trying to get everyone to use...well if they are successful, i'll just have to stay home...because most FLUORESCENT lamps pull that trigger really well...thus i am "allergic" to cities...to airports...airplanes...schools, including colleges and universities...hospitals, and clinics...most doctor offices, including dentists and ophthamalogists...in fact just about everywhere but in MY house...or in Nature...Computer terminals can do it too...and this one is no exception, only as it's only a three years old, it's pretty good...only flickers a little compared to a few years ago...but it i am on here for say a few hours...like all afternoon, i may get a headache...not always...and i've also noticed that having used this computer a lot since i've gotten it, in 98 ...that over time i am not quite as sensitive to the terminal as i was when i first got it...i've gotten "used" to it, rather than getting MORE "allergic" to it...but it still is a kind of fluorescent screen...and isn't easy on the eyes... so when you are "allergic" to life...you are quite willing to try out "new" therapies that may help...even if it's a long shot...it's worth a try!and migraine is oftem considered to be an "allergy" problem...right in there with eczema and Asthma... Anyways thanks a lot for the additional information!! In the Mother's Love, and in Her Service, as ever, your own self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! Namaste Visvanathan, If these things are a trigger for you, I have many other recipes for smoothies which do not have citrus or bananas and I will be happy to send on here. True, the list for migraines is appalling. I was lucky to pin it down to caffeine for myself and the migraines stopped. I agree about the fluorescent lighting. I was once at a play by a talented guy visiting at Kansas University, who all were eagerly awaiting - don't remember his name - and he was some major instructor in theatre. When he came on, he immediately had them turn off the fluorescent lights and use what he brought with him. He had a lot to say about them. It's good to speak about this, as I think a lot of people are effected and they are unhealthy so something can be done as more people learn of their effects. Last week I took photos at my husband's office of he and his colleagues for a work project, and the fluorescent lighting made many of them look grey. Not just on the surface, but deeper. Sorry to hear of your migraines. They are tough. Best of luck with them and in continuing to discover more and more health. A couple other smoothie recipes: Smoothie: Iced Mochas 1 Tbl Pero (coffee substitute) 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract 1 C Soy milk 1/3 - 1/2 C Silken soft tofu 1 - 2 Tbl (or more) Flax oil 1 tsp Roasted carob powder 1 Tbl Honey or Succanat Ice cubes Add to blender and blend until smooth and frothy. It's good. Play around with the carob and Pero to get the flavor you like best. Big Trick: I really dislike the taste of carob - BUT, the secret is to use Pero (coffee substitute), or a real instant coffee if you so choose, whenever you use carob. It gets rid of that kind of weird flavor and makes it taste like chocolate. (Chocolate too, a migraine trigger. But not this carob and Pero.) Again, add other specific supplements as in the earlier recipe. Smoothie: Strawberry Nut Milk Smoothie This one is from 'A Celebration of Wellness'. You can substitute tofu for cashews for a less caloric drink. 1/3 C Cashews 1 Tbl Lecithin granules 1/4 C Blueberries 1 3/4 C Water Around 7 Strawberries (I would just say strawberries - as many as you'd like!) 2 Tbl Honey (Again, I'd say use Succanat if you don't want to use honey.) Blend everything until thick and creamy. I would also add flax oil, and one could also add primrose oil. And then again, any supplements you choose. Kindest regards, Patrice
