Guest guest
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! Namaste all! What you say Mani sounds interesting...and very thorny...no matter which side of the debate you find yourself on, there will be plenty of opposition from the "other" side.... in a way you are incorrect though...as if we produce "cabbagey" or "porky" or "chickeny" material, even if it doesn't come from a cabbage or a pig or chicken...still in a strictest sense you can't call it ahimsa...as when you eat it, you are harming the cells which go to make it up... Actually the strictest "ahimsa" is only a theory, and in practice impossible, unless we are willing just to starve to death...and even then, we are crushing ants beneath our feet every day.. cutting the lawn, killing mice and rats...and mosquitoes....so the ideal is a good ideal, and worthy of approach insofar as we are capable, but NO ONE is capable of total ahimsa or the creation would be unable to continue... now if we are speaking in the spirit sense however, just as Sri Krsna said...no one is born, or dies...and thus ahimsa is the actuality for us all, even when we eat pig or chicken or fish....as we can not harm the being inhabiting the body...only the body... Even the physicists are starting to talk like us Advaita Vedantin types....even they are starting to say that there IS NO TIME..... Einstein's attempts to produce a unified field theory, which founderd for ever, have been reworked a little, by a few mathematicians...and one of them reworked the quantum mechanical equations of i think Erwin Schroedinger...and used them in relativistic calculations..."macro-physics" as compared to the "micro-physics" of the atom and electrons and such... you know, he got something which worked quite well, IF he left out the variables for TIME>.... thus they are starting to think that there is NO TIME and that time is basically a function of the mind...or of watching mechanical objects moving around the clock face..(the hands) They are talking eternity in every moment of the now...that there is ONLY the now!!! So although i don't have any answers to your dilemma re using embryos for science or healing...i am interested in this topic... the more we investigate the world the more that physics comes to resemble Vedanta...in fact it's no secret that many of the greatest mathematicians and physicists are deeply religious and mystically oriented folks....they know just how little they know, and they are impressed with the great wonder of the creation....Every where i look, i see confirmations of the ancient teachings!!! Hi! I did not say it was ahimsa, but "l
