Guest guest
NAM = NON-Astrological Matter Dear Friends, Recently I had an experience, which took on big dimensions today. I sat in our park early in May, all the trees were bare. A few days later I noticed tiny sprouts. For about 3 days I hardly went out, saw the sprouts growing through the window. Then I went to the park: the trees were full of foliage, the chestnuts had "candelebras"! Blossoms all over! It was the quickest change from Winter to Spring that I have ever experienced. I sat and thought, looking at the wonder. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life!" This resurrection of life happens every year: in the higher latitudes very clearly, the plants "die" and and awake. In the tropics it is continuous, leaves are shed and replaced all the year round. All biological life dies, gets eaten up, sometimes when still living, sometimes when dead. The biological body is always transformed, loses its identity but beconmes part of other life, as food for the next generation. The body lives on its own. We never tell the heart to beat or the lung to breathe, but they do so. If for any reason they fail to fulfil their functions, we "die". The body itself is a symbiotic being: at least 10 "foreign animals" exist in the blood-stream of any mammal, including humans. The human gene does not have the factors for the blood corpuscles, phagocytes etc. A retort baby can live only if human blood is given to it. This body has only two aims to exist: to nourish itself and to multiply. It finds its own way to multiply: animals mate without any sex-education! The male smells the vagina, BUT WHO tells it to insert its penis into the vagina? Sex-lust alone does not explain this! The Greek myth - or story - of Daphnes and Chloe illustrates this: the lovers do not know how to mate! They have to be taught! But animals know this "instinctively". There is no sex between fishes. The female sheds the eggs, the male the sperma. Where is the "orgasm"? So it looks as if the body has its own soul to keep it going. It "lives" in states of coma, if fed artificially. If a hen´s head is cut off, the body runs around for a time. For continuous living the body depends on a "foreign soul" -the thinking soul. The body says, I am hungry!", but the thinking soul looks for the food. The body "says, "i feel cold!", but the thinking souls seeks the warmth. The body says, "i want to reproduce!" and the thinking soul finds the way for doing so. In the case of Man the body says, "I want sex." Does not think of reproduction only, but seeks pleasure. The thinking soul finds a way of satisfying this desire. Now we are presented with a problematic situation. Scientists want to use fertilized ovae as sources of "spare parts" for the body. From the nascent cells they hope to produce liver, heart, lung, even brain, for transplantation. This has been dealt with in science fiction in a terrible manner. Orphaned children are put a paradisical island and allowed to live "normally". But they are inculcated with a religion that promises them wonderful things if they respond to a "call". They are called individually whenever a certain organ is required for some rich patient! They respond to the call, the organ is removed from them and transplanted - they are only biological spare parts! The present situation is a bit different. There are about 150 frozen fertilized ovae in Germany, without mothers. The tentative mothers either died or were found to be unsuitable for implantation. The "embryos" are the size of a pinhead, only a bundle of cells. No organs or limbs have developed, for they are still in a stage where nothing is determined in itself. IMHO, in a pure biological state, without the thinking soul. Is it really wrong to use these cells to make spare parts? Are we killing a human being? Or are we only dstroying the shell into which a human, thinking being could have entered? Vegetarian or non-vegetarian, we are continually killing life to survive. If this technology were to be used with animal sources, we could have any kind of meat, liver, heart etc. without any actual animal at all! by controlled "feeding" we can avoid all the diseases that are attacking animals these days. This could also be extended to vegetables: produce things that taste tomatic or cabbagic, without any tomato or cabbage being killed! Maximum ahimsa! We must only set the limit as to when we think the thinking soul enters ito the biological body. With absolutely nascent situations I think there is no problem at all. But: what about aborted babies? They are further developed, show clear human features. For sentimental reasons they could be buried or cremated, but mostly land in the dustbin! Would it not be a more ethical practice to use them for creating organs? At least their extremely short life would not have been in vain! No matter whatr we feel, we cannot stop science. As children of the Creator, we have inherited the desire to create. There is no repressing possible. But we can decide what is ethical and what not, based not on personal feelings and prejudices, but on fixed principles. Total non-violence is impossible. To be aware is to permit yiolation of oblivion, the state of Jadabrahman! So we can only choose ways of least violence. If carried out sensibly, I think this is a positive development. What do you think? regards Mani
