Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!!

Namaste dear brother Raghuji!!

i've got my sunshades on and my big sun hat...and i'm ready...where's

that boat?...oh... it's the rocket this time? oh no, i forgot my

toothbrush...oh it's just a short trip to that black hole?...got any

coffee?

once more thanking you for that wonderful rave that you're pouring out

of yourself and honouring us with its strange beauty and profound

implications!

as for me it's simply delicious...the cosmological mind...isn't this

what Jyotish is really about anyways??...this mind has always gone in

those kinds of directions too...was at one time going to be an

astronomer, before i realised how long it would take to get to do the

interesting stuff, and how much (B.S.)c. i'd have to learn first....

of course Jyotish presents similar challenges....if we don't at first

get the lesson, the Mother will graciously allow us further

opportunities to pass these tests...only the tuition seems to get a

little higher each time we blow it...

in Jyotish i am finally discovering why i wanted to study astronomy!!!

so even back as a young person, just like you, i was minded to pursue

these sacred avenues of research, and experience...and just like many

others, i became disatisfied with mere theories (going to

university!), and wanted some hands on stuff that works and helps

people too...and oneself of course!!

thus music was next on the list of studies (still at

University)...also still seeking to get to the bottom of things, now

thru the medium of "Serious Music", as it was called in those days

(70's)...same longing and subconscious calling out for meaning...

and finally the spiritual paths became available as i grew older and

was more initiated into the pains of life...and now Jyotish, which is

a Sacred Art, and which is so helpful to all...along with the chanting

of Sanskrit Prayers, Hymns, Bhajans, Pujas, Meditation and so on...and

Bhakti yoga as life...

i could say that in a way i came full circle back to the stars and

planets i was interested in 30 years ago...of course that number

immediately brings Saturn to mind...perhaps it's a Saturn recurring

thing....and now that Sani has given me a good pounding for most of my

life, and this little one is soft enough...he has been given the most

Precious Gift in this Life...His GuruMa, Ammachi, found him again and

picked him up out of the gutter....giving him initiation and telling

him quite firmly (in writing yet!) that he should learn to follow the

Path of Divine Love.....all of this has led to just where we are

today...(instructions from the Guru...for you Mani!!)

even the pain is good to a point, if we are able to see it as Guru's

Grace, or Krsna's Grace, or The Mother's Grace...it certainly keeps

our minds from getting too englamoured with the current paradigm of

society....as to what is a "good life"...our challenge is to just try

to approach all these difficulties and challenges, even

life-threatening ones...serious diseases and so on...as Divine Grace,

which is bestowed upon us for the purpose of making us free from

delusions, and full of Divine Love, and humility to realise that we

are NOT the real doers...

Lord Krsna alone is doing everything...so to turn a debilitating event

like a stroke into a life teaching, not only for yourself, but for

your friends and acquaintances, as Ram Dass has done....which of us

wouldn't like to hope that we too, could trasmute that ongoing pain

and parallysis, and difficulty of finding words to clothe the

thoughts......and out of that bring back a report to our loved

ones....that the Divine Grace is really kind, even though appearing

difficult...saying that such an event as a stroke is actually His

Guru's Grace, and one of His greatest gifts to him....

Some of the worst strokes by that Maha Deva Maha Kala...some of the

worst blows of His have actually been the instigation of an entirely

new saint...and the deepening of others.

as Paramahansa Yoganandaji used to say "A Saint is nothing more than a

sinner who never gave up!"....some of the greatest Saints went thru

similar torments which you have gone thru, and which many of us have

gone thru...otherwise their words would be meaningless to us...we

would immediately think..."But what could you know? You had it easy!"

But as they too go thru all the torments and miseries that we do, we

can watch this, and take them as our models (if we need models...i

find it helpful to realise too, that we too, are ALL models; all our

behaviours are saying something about us...it might be in our best

interests to think of this a little more sometimes!!!)...we see that

pain which the Mahatmas have gone thru too, and we see what they have

done with it...and thus we are given new options of how to work with

difficult situations, having the model of such success right before

our mind's eye...such as our Guru, or a beloved Saint...this makes it

easier because we can refer our behaviour to theirs as a means of

improvement...NOT a means of cutting ourself down however...

thus we can try to use our experiences and our sadhanas as a ladder to

crawl up to be with the Divine Mother....or we can just sit like a two

year old, in the middle of the floor and have a tantrum!!!!She will

come...just we might get a little hoarse!!!

In Her Love,

and In Her Service,

as ever,

your own self,

visvanathan
