BPHS and Jaimini give 5th house for learning

In BPHS there are no real references to the 4th house ruling

education. However there are many to the 5th. I have found some more

below. There are also references to the 2nd house and 9th. Jaimini

Sutram also seems to agree with Parasara on this, especially in

regards to the 5th and 2nd house indicating knowledge (JS 1.2.96-

1.2.117). But I may have missed some slokas.

 

The following quotes support Parasara's statement that learning is

seen from the 5th.

 

Ch 46 133-134. In the Chakra Dasha of the Rashi in Dhana (2nd) house,

the native receives good food, enjoys happiness of wife and children,

gains wealth, achieves progress in the educational sphere, becomes a

clever conversationalist and moves in good society...

 

139-140. Being blessed with wife and children, favors from

Government, enjoyment of sound health, good relations with friends,

achievement of fame, good progress in the educational sphere,

patience and valour, are the effects of the Chakra Dasha of the Rashi

in the 5th house...

 

Ch 48 2-4. There will be acquisition of house and land in the Dasha

of the lord of the 4th house.

 

ch 48 2-4. There will be progress in educational sphere and happiness

from the children in the Dasha of the lord of the 5th house.

 

Ch 48 5-8. There will be improvement in the educational sphere,

religious mindedness and unexpected gains of wealth in the Dasha of

the lord of the 9th house.

 

Ch.11 sl.6 "The learned should deduce from the 5th house: amulets,

sacred spells, learning, knowledge, sons, royalty (or authority),

fall of position, etc."
