Guest guest
Namaste Listmembers, Our own self, resident poet Visvanathan wrote to me today... "you promised a follow-up letter with abundant and florid descriptions of your trip to see Amma". I shall reply to the list as my insights may be broadly applicable. What can I say about Mother that hasn't already been said or felt. She is a warm cuddly bundle of kindness and love...that is 'Her' inspiration to us. What was 'going on' around Her in the room also spiked my attention. I was at the side of the hall, kneeling in a long line of devotees waiting to accept darshan. Their excitement was palpable...preening themselves, exchanging knowing glances etc. In the middle of the room were people free-floating/mingling. Amongst this group, a morbidly obese young woman and her toddler, settled in isolation in close proximity to 'our' line. The woman was obviously distressed, crying softly and quietly. The 'devotees' seeing this 'monstrosity' began sniggering amongst themselves, raising eyebrows in disgust, etc, while clutching their obligatory gift of roses to Amma. As I inched my way forward and finally became parallel with her, I gave her my rose and whispered, "I think Amma would like you to have this". So whilst I would like to wax lyrical about the atmosphere of Divine presence and unconditional Love, I was treated to the usual human foibles. But that's life...and therein lies our inner and outer dilemma. OM TAT SAT Ann.
