Dear Carol, And others who have time to read, You have endorsed my words! Just to get a bit of humour into the discussion - which abounds in wrangling about the humours like vata and pitta, - as well as demonstrative expression of humours like rajas ( anger) ........ And hoping that our two dear "fighting cocks" Wendy and Robert are prepared to declare truce and have a good laugh together - laughter is the best medicine, irrespective of pitta and kapha, tamas or rajas, may even make the battlefield a picnicfield ................ In older days, when a battallion was on the front and spies abounded, messages were often handed down in whispers "down the line". On one occasion the message was "Send reinforcements, we are going to advance!". When the last scout heard it, it was "Send three or four pence, we are going to a dance!" .... Some 4 years ago I said what you said and was "outlawed". At intervals I keep saying the same. Today the list is more tolerant. With more humour, harmony would reign. What is humour? Not a witty twist, but the understanding of "l´homme propose, mais le Dieu dispose!" There were Years when I could see my kids only on rare occasions. Every time i planned a picnic, spent hours getting what they liked etc. But when the day came it invariably rained, we ate the goodies in the shelter of my car, in pouring rain - and laughed! Once my sister and I went shopping, intended to visir a friend after that. It was a hot day and we were thirsting for a cup of tea or coffee, but my sister kept saying, "We can´t waste time in a restaurant, when we get to Lakshmi she´ll give us coffee !" ( Offering coffee was standard, irrespective of time.) So we got to Lakshmi´s place, tongue stuck to palate, and the first words of greeting were "My God, what a time have you chosen to visit me! My kitchen is being repaired and I can´t even offer you a cup of coffee!" My sister and I sat down on the verandah and laughed our guts out! Finally we told Lakshmi why we laughed and she too broke out into laughter. After that we all went out to a restaurant and quenched our thirst. regards Mani
Guest guest
Dear Mani et al, At 11:11 PM 5/4/01 +0200, you wrote: >And hoping that our two dear "fighting cocks" Wendy and Robert are >prepared to >declare truce and have a good laugh together - laughter is the best medicine, >irrespective of pitta and kapha, tamas or rajas, may even make the >battlefield a >picnicfield ................ Thanks for that, Mani. But I have to tell you, that I've had many laughs throughout this last week's jousting, although others didn't get the chance to join in. Yes, maybe sometime Wendy and I will have a good laugh. I have to say this, however, and that is that there is one thing I admire in Wendy: and it is that she fights hard for what she believes, even though the recipients may find her approach abrasive at times. People also find the same about me, it seems. Anyway, without Rajas, you cannot fight for something; and fighting for a good cause, becomes a laudable mission. Tamas causes clearings and purging, as the best Ayurvedic medicines are essentially Tamasic in nature. So they taste like hell when you swallow, yet their effect is to heal. Anyway, without becoming a little angry, you cannot speak your truth with conviction. This last quality is what I appreciate about Wendy.
