There are many different dasa systems one can employ and all are explained

fully in BPHS and the like. But Vimsottari dasa is the one recommended by

the sages and the one most astrologers use. I don't know of any Jyotish

Pundits who use anything other than Vimsottari. However, in this age of

modern computers (making calculations much quicker), the others might be

worth looking at.

Hello Anshu,

The different dasa systems are given in Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra. The

translation I have is by R. Santhanam and is published by "Ranjan

Publications" New Delhi. I believe Robert quotes from another

translation...hence some confusion arises when debating scripture as

different translations can give a different slant on the way we interpret

it. Which translation you use (I guess) comes down to a matter of choice.

YOU WROTE:

Dear Wendy,

Please elaborate. Also give reference to the appropriate book/scripture.

Hello Wendy

Thank you.

My impression was that perhaps some other book giving commentary on the

scriptures was being referred to.

Anshu
