Namaste Ann.

Well, the Atmakaraka acts differently in every chart, no matter which graha it

is, but we can infer some very general indications.

Lets say Jupiter was the Atmakaraka; Life would be easy, and the teachings would

be comprehended easily, hence all learnings in life are given to the person

without much effort.

However Rahu is probably the best teacher of them all! This may actually sound

quite the contrary being that its one of the worst malefics, but its actually

due to its maleficence that it teaches so well. The person is shown the

materialistic ways of soceity and in an early age feels that they don't need it.

In some cases this extreme is manifested in a family member, who wants the

person to grow up to become a big shot industrialist or the likes.

Rahu as the Atmakaraka will indeed get through to the native, and it often turns

up in the charts of highly spiritual people. There is offcourse suffering

related to this life long learning, but the Rahu-Atmakaraka people seem to

understand it early, and can hence overcome it.

As for your friend, The Atmakaraka in the 6th house and exalted, gives her

strong regenerative powers, however the ill-health matters will manifest. Its

conjoined Venus which is in its worst possible placement, and hence the

houses/grahas lorded by Venus suffer. The Jala Tattwa isn't very strong here,

but Moon is luckily well placed in Cancer. Referring to the Kauluka, the 5th

house comes under a massive affliction, where Jupiter and Venus are placed. Now

i'm wondering whether this chart was among the charts given for the analysis of

Diabetes.

No doubt an illness is present, but my little experience with medical-astrology

must put my feet firmly in the ground.

With that.. I hope this helps..

Best wishes, Visti.

> Dear Visti,

> I would be interested to hear your views on Rahu as atmakaraka.

> Not from 'antagonistic' scriptual doctrine, but from a philosophical angle.

> For instance, I have read that Rahu as atmakarak, through past life

> credit, has endowed the soul with the ability to overcome suffering.

> You may refer to my friends chart if you wish.(or not: haha). May 16th

> 1964 11.20pm AEST Bendigo Victoria (36S46 144E17). I include her chart as

> she is a lovely person having a very average life. Her ill health causes her

> to suffer daily.

> Best Wishes,

> Ann.
