Guest guest
Namaste Listmembers, Yesterday I asked why an advanced soul would come into this life and suffer miserably?. I imagined such 'advancement' would lead to a recognisable Mahatma; an inspirational religious teacher or social reformer perhaps. I still do not know the answer or if there is one, but I will relate this tale... I was called in to 'special'(24hr one to one care), a middle aged suicidal woman who had acted on her impulse to self harm. She was heavily sedated when I came to sit beside her. She was dying. Her condition was as terminal as any virulent cancer. Over the next couple of days she trusted me enough to allow me to perform reiki. As I placed my hands over her solar plexus, a cloud obscured the sun and a darkness engulfed the room. I closed my eyes and allowed images to flow. I imagined myself in a cave. I was kneeling on soft, dark, pungent soil giving last rites to an ancient and revered American Indian Holy Woman. She was wrapped in soft skins similar to a papoose. I felt the presence of people sitting in a semi circle behind me and a young Indian man standing to the front. The clouds parted and light again filled the room; with that I 'snapped out of it'. I had no idea what these images meant. How could this terribly sad and shattered woman appear as a mahatma?.(she had suffered brutal lifelong sexual abuse from her father). I asked for guidance. I didn't get it!. A friend recently gave me a set of Goddess Oracle cards. They are works of art in themselves. As I was appreciating their beauty, I came across 'Sedna' Inuit sea Goddess. To my amazement, I recognised her face as the old woman in the cave. Sedna represents VICTIM. "Sedna was once a beautiful woman...wooed by a seagull with promises of plenty of food and servants, she went to live with the bird people. Instead of the promised conditions, she was forced to live in filth and squalor. When her father came to visit, she begged him to take her back home across the waters. The bird people pursued them and to save his life, her father threw Sedna overboard. When she tried to climb back into the boat, he cut off her fingers". Sedna's cut fingers transformed into fish and sea mammals, which provided food for her people. In my arrogance and folly I often use a logical yardstick to judge 'spiritual advancement'. My prejudice holds me at a disadvantage. OM TAT SAT Ann.
