Guest guest
Dear Robert, Once again (and for the last time I hope) I'll quote directly from BPHS: "The sage also suggests a school of thought which considers only seven significators, treating Matru Karaka and Putra Karaka as identical. This section thus counts only 7 Karakas. Since some advocate the use of 8 karakas, Rahu is also added to the seven planets from Sun to Saturn. >snip< If two planets have the same longitude identical to the second of arc, both of them will be qualified for that particular karakatwa or significatorship. In that case there will be shortage of planet for Dara karakatwa. The constant indicator Venus should be then considered in the matter of marriage etc. as coming under Dara Karaka." We could go on arguing points of law infinitum Robert...let's rather leave this kind of futility behind and turn our thoughts to something constructive. I would certainly appreciate your comments on the rectification chart I put forward a few days ago. I THINK I've got it right, but, without any birth time at all to go on, there's always a nagging doubt. Regards Wendy You wrote: ========== What Manoj is referring to here, is the practice of using Rahu as a karaka, only if two planets have the same degrees and minutes. This is one belief among astrologers, and is in use, especially among those who ascribe to Sri K.N. Rao's approach. Yet, my question still persists: Parasara named 8 karakas: Atma, Amatya, Bhratri, Matri, Pitri, Putra, Jnati, and Dara. If not for Rahu, who then will be the 8th karaka? This question is still unanswered.
