Guest guest
Very interesting posting about Eke's work of art. Ancient Nahoas (old mexicans including aztecs, mayas and hundreds of other tribes) were great artists and made beautiful pottery. Does not matter how new or old their pottery was, they used to destroy them once every 52 years in a ceremony called The Fire Making Ceremony. The ceremony coincided when the 7 sisters (Krittika) used to pass above the Mexico City meridian. They used to fast for 5 days and they used to destroy all pottery and extinguish all fires. Then, once their priests used to observe that the 7 sisters had crossed the local meridian, their priests used to make a new fire on the Hill of The Star. The new fire used to be passed with torches all over Mexico, to houses, temples and streets. In that way with the new fire they used to make new style of pottery and start a new cycle of 52 years. <<He recently sculpted a large coffee mug type of piece, with a lizard wrapped around the mug.>> Lizards were sacred to the shamans because they are connected to fire. Lizards give secrets to the shamans just like the European shamans used cats to get secrets. <<It would have been fine there until we found it after the nightime visit of the thief, but they obviously couldn't know that our cat walks along that ledge often, and likes to rub itself against any object along that walkway, and so, rubbed the cup right off the 4 foot high ledge, and kaboom, crash went the fragile piece of china like pottery on the ground outside in the middle of the night, before we could even receive the thief's gift back into our lives>> There we are, the cat and the lizard giving an especial omen. I have the feeling that the omen is very positive and soon Eke is going to find some important knowledge. It could have been better have counted the number of pieces from the broken pot cos that gives more clues to the mystery. lots of love natabara
