GJ-3 .... bug?

Dear Raghu,

May i please put in a few suggestions for GJ -3 ... or update for 2.2?

1. At present we have only one "default location". It would be a great help if

we could have a choice of at least 5 such places and a little window showing

these when casting a chart, so you can click and choose, without having to type

all the stuff again and again. Esp. for synastric study.

2. There seems to be a bug in the transit hit feature. I have been trying to get

transit maps for the moon going over sensitive points. The calcs are okay. But

when I click to "cast chart for line" I get weird results. The chart casting

data are not always correct:

- as a standard the location entered into the transit finding window is not

taken over, but the default location.

- the time of transit is sometimes taken over correctly, sometimes some other

time. The date was taken over in the 20 or so cases I tried. But sometimes 3

attempts had to be made for automatic take-over of time!

- the ayanamsa of the natal chart is not taken over.

So when you actually cast the chart, you have to first note down the date and

time as calculated, as well as ayanams; then edit the data to suit.

This is a nuisance, because it is so easy to overlook some factor!

BTW, thanks for clarifying the candra lagna. Being used to the SI style and

seeing lagna anywhere in the square, I had always just taken the moon sign as

candra lagna. I couldn´t understand why it was rotated to put moon where aries

is usually shown. The main confusion arose because AC of main rasi chart also

gets shown, whereas it has, I think, no meaning if moon is now the effective

lagna for the reading!

Similarly the idea of rotating the bhava chart to put AC in Aries position is

not desirable: it makes direct comparison a strain on the eye and brain.

Numbering does not really help, for the visual impression is easier. Like it is

much easier to tell time from an analog dial than a digital showing hrs mins and

secs in figures.

Mani

Dear Das, dear Mani,

as I am not sure if Mani means the same, I would like to add some other

point:

For example regarding the chart of R. Houck and making hourly jumps in the

transit window: the moon will suddenly jump either back or too much degrees

forwards. (regarding march,31. just to apr. 2.)

Onother thing I would like to calculate are the tertiay progressions.

And a third thing, Das please forgive me my ignorance, I`m not a software

specialist and so I know nothing about taking my wish into reality, but

could it be possible to calculate also the bindus for navamsa or the other

vargas?

Kind regards Ilona

Dear Ilona/Raghu,

No, I did not mean the same. Ilona is talking of the "Transit" button, I wrote

about the "Transit Hits" , 2 buttons lower in the "Features" window. The former

calculates transits for a given time, the latter for a given position.

GJ gives a number of positions to choose, but it would be nice to have a couple

of "User´s Own" positions too, where one can put in a certain longitude: useful

for checking the angles, also for trying out transits to fixed stars, asteroids

etc. These are western techniques, I know, but they are useful too.
