Guest guest
The chandra chart is simply the rasi rotated so that the Moon is rising. That's how it's formed. BPHS says early on that whichever is stronger, the lagna or Moon, that reading can commence from there. In other places in Classics we find mention of this same principal. In North Indian style chart drawings, you want to create a separate Chandra Chart because the signs move in that style. The Moon is moved to the "top" of the chart. In South Indian style of chart drawing, you don't need to redraw, because there, they are used to looking at moveable houses anyway, so simply starting from the Moon is just another typical excercise in Lagna recognition for them. So no separate chart is needed, though we might number the boxes perhaps. As for what it's for, it's for reading the overall karma you would think from reading BPHS. I have become accustomed to saying that it's about the persons "inner mental/emotional experience", taking the Moon as the emotional ascendent and the real ascendent as the physical ascendent. The quote you gave about bhava lagna in lagna sounds like someone is referring to the Jaimini type of Bhava Lagna being in the real lagna, or one of the special lagnas mentioned in BPHS, it's hard to tell from the little bit you quoted. I don't think you need to think too much about the special lagnas. peace out, das
