Guest guest
Hi All, Today I had a "funny" experience. I had a lot of e-mail from the list stashed away to read later. Today I opened the folder and my good friend Norton warned me that a file called Funny-St. htm was infected with a virus called "fuzzy". I had never met fuzzy and had no desire to make the acquaintance. So I deprived myself of a laugh and with the monster´s help, erased the file. It just struck me that it would be best to check whatever we send, before starting some epidemic! The trouble is, of course, that new viruses are cropping up all the time, and an update at least weekly is necessary. I am wondering if soon our harddisks will be filled up with virus info. and we have to get new disks to load our programmes and data! Will mantras or gems stuck on to the PC ward off the demons?... how does one cast a chart for a PC - what is the TOB? When it is assembled, bought, brought home, connected to power for the fist time, switch it on, load the system - or what? Should the PC before which one kneels so often face east or west? Or does one only pray to the spirit dwelling in the computer, be it nymph or gnome? regards Mani

I'm responsible to see that no viruses get into our company's computers--so virus avoidance is important to me. I expect businesses will one day to an Internet webfilter service that acts like a firewall. You go online to the firewall/filter site, then from there return to your accustomed web surfing---all in the comfort of knowing "viruses can't touch my computer" from that jumping-off point. <<Will mantras or gems stuck on to the PC ward off the demons?...>> Why not try it? Might be pretty unique! My computer at work has a small stuffed toy lobster on it. So far, no demons! << how does one cast a chart for a PC - what is the TOB? This is fun and interesting, but the computer being created is like a baby being adopted; she isn't yours until the papers are signed and the baby is delivered to your hands. Whether you install different software or not, depends on your personal preferences--but the moment it is yours would be the logical "birthdate" for experience with that machine, while the arrangements with the company would indicate your relationship in regards to warranty, service, support, etc.>> Should the PC before which one kneels so often face east or west? >> That's an easy question, Mani. The computer should face East and the Monitor should have its glass face facing East also. One ought to have a comfortable chair, however! With best wishes for all, Carol
