Bondage ~ Insanity ~ Possession?

Hi, I have a couple of questions. Well, I read in the archives that the

trimsamsa is the chart that shows evils, and to look for combinations

there first of all, so, I looked. I think I may have a papakartari yoga

there on my ascendant but I'm not sure if an aspect by Jupiter (5th asp)

or Mercury (rasi aspect) breaks it? Could someone let me know whether

or not I have this yoga?

My trimsamsa is this ~> Cap asc. ~~ Ma, Ra, Ke in Aqu, 2nd house ~~ Mo

in Pis, 3rd ~~ Ve in Ari, 4th ~~ Me in Tau, 5th ~~ Ju in Vir, 9th ~~ Su,

Sa in Sag, 12th

I do have a question though regarding the papkartari yoga in

general...regardless if it's in affect in my own chart, and that is,

what exactly is meant by the term bondage? I don't understand what that

means. In the archives, I came across a lot of ~`bondage of some sort`~

type of statements, when the yoga specifically affects the lagna, but no

clear explanation of what that some sort is. Could someone please

clarify this?

Also, in Dr. Raman's 300 Important Comb. book, he says that Rahu, moon

and Saturn combinations indicate possession in general, and well, I

looked at my shastiamsa chart and it's this ~> Pis asc with Mo, Me, Ra,

Sa, 1st ~~ Su, Ve in Can, 5th ~~ Ke in Vir, 7th ~~ Jup in Lib, 8th ~~ Ma

in Aqu, 12th

I realize that shastiamsa should only be used if you have a really

correct birth time but, if I was born 2 min earlier everything stays the

same, if I was born 1-2 min later, the shastiamsa asc. only changes to

Ari and if I use Krishnamurti aya, the asc is Ari with Sat in Ari

causing a papakartari on Mo, Me, Ra, so I'm pretty sure there's some

sort of mental affliction there, am I right? This worries me because I

already am very socialphobic but now seeing this makes me think it could

turn into full blown agoraphobia, which already at times I feel myself

slipping into, but ironically, maybe that's just in my head.

Ok, and now my question is this....as I read in a post a couple of days

ago (I think Manoj wrote that without indications in rasi that evils

won't manifest, and that makes sense) so.....I'm wondering what kind of

things would I look for to see which direction things are leaning to?

Is the strength of the 6th house important? I have a pretty strong 6th

house according to that ashtakavarga ~ 34 points. Oh, and also, my

atmakaraka is either Rahu or the Sun, I'm not sure which one to use

really, but, if it is Rahu, and in general Rahu is what causes ~ plays a

part in ~ these negative yogas, does that matter? Thanks, Angie

Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!!!

Namaste dear sister Angie!!

it would be very difficult to comment upon your chart from just the

info you gave....it would be much more productive if you gave the

Birth info, rather than the chart info...as then we can all erect the

charts ourselves and look at the TOTAL picture...it is difficult if

not impossible to judge anything from what you have said.....not

enough information....

Also dear Sister, i would very strongly hesitate ever to accept one of

the Nodes as Atmakaraka....in my understanding only the seven Grahas

are used (although some schools seem to like to use Rahu and Ketu

too....this doesn't AT ALL appeal to me....do we want our soul

indicator to be a DEMON's head????????or a headless immortalised

corpse????) Yechh!!

this doesn't compute in my mind....

part of the problems in studying such subjects as medicine or Nursing,

or Long term care, is that as you study all the various diseases that

can manifest in the human body, you start to feel that you are

suffering from each one...as the class progresses, you find you've got

heart disease, cancer, and who knows what else....and then you go to a

real doctor...and you've NOTHING...it was all in your head from the

studying.....

"Anti-social" behaviour is not necessarily a sign of mental

illness...it may be a sign of "wellness"...you just don't want to mix

your vibes with the commercial, go-for-it energy of the consumer

culture...and can see very little reason to be a social animal....

well, dear sister, you can join the ranks of the tyagis then

(like Das and myself, and Mani and who knows who else...)...because

you are going thru that spiritual growth in which renunciation of

certain activities and consumption will just naturally occur...and

you'll wonder if you're going a bit mad, because what seems to drive

the entire world, just isn't working for you....so you seek more

solitude...this isn't necessarily a bad thing...one could view it as

an invitation from the Divine to get to Know Her better.....

"the price of greatness is solitude", said one of my major heroes of

all time...Paramahansa Yoganandaji.....and he was meaning the

greatness of God Realisation...

Dear Hans, you serene swan,

No Sir! You don´t have to study medicine or nursing, don´t have to go through

semesters at all. Just buy a popular health book, with some name like "Home

Doctor", "Doctor in the House", "Medical lexicon for the Layman" etc. You may

buy it to find a quick first aid remedy if you happen to drink cyanide by

mistake, but having bought it, curiosity will lead you to browse thru it - and

within 3 hours of purchase, you will be the Super-Patient, a living example of

all diseases. Even if you are not afraid of death, do not ask, "How many hours

have I still left," you will at least ask, "How am I alive at all?!" ... And

this question may eventually solve the problem!

Astrologically too this thing works. If I read all the "readings" for the yogas

etc. in my chart, I must be a pretty unsavoury creature according to some. But

then I don´t have the wealth or other goodies promised by other combos. I

actually tried the GJ readings for various saints. Nothing against Das or GJ,

but the readings did not really portray the person. Sai Baba was given a very

dubious reading!... Interpretation is not a method or science, but depends on

intuition. If a person is permanently on night duty, like a night-watchman, the

reading could suggest "engaged in nefarious activities".

If God revealed Jyothish, he revealed more questions than answers!

(like Das and myself, and Mani and who knows who else...)...

Dear KV, I feel very (undeservedly) flattered when you add my name to the list

of tyagis - I fully accept yourself and Das!... But you are right: I still have

wishes, but if they cannot be fulfilled, okay! That is what Mother says is

better for me, so I accept it. But the wishes are not gone!

"Anti-Social" is a bad word. I don´t have the original mail anymore but from

what you say, the correct word would be "introvert": anti-social is when a

person deliberately tries to hurt the society. A-Social is when a person does

not conform to the social norm. "Introvert" is a person who does not seek the

company of others, prefers to be alone. This can vary from autism to

"withdrawal". In most situations this is "non-healthy". Generally, the desire

to "withdraw" should come after a mixed life, a desire to contemplate and learn

from past experiences. One does not have to be "extrovert", perpetually seek the

company of others. There is a middle path, just accepting contacts as they

come.

But if a person AVOIDS or tries to avoid contact with others, it is a sign of

total saintliness or a state of mental/psychic aberration. Even my autistic son,

who "avoided" normal contact, seeks contact of a particular kind, which he

cannot find at all! The main question is this: does a person avoid outside

contact out of a conviction, or is there a barrier because of manic depression?

Even in a saint, the desire to be alone to meditate has limits. Sankara

separated himself from the normal functions of life, but was always

communicating with others. The desire for isolation is a symptom of the soul

being unhappy in this world - which cannot be compared with the unhappiness of

others, who are unhappy by circumstance but would gladly enjoy this world if

possible - and this is cannot be channelled into renunciation. To renounce, you

must first desire.

Hi renegade SU,

How dare you ask this question? How can you even think of leaving the list and

its loving, quarrelling members? Have you thought of the karmic consequences?

What if you are re-born as a postman and have to receive and deliver tons of

letters every day, summer and winter?

But if against all discretion and cautiousness, not to mention loyalty, you

insist on leaving us, every letter conveys the istructions. In case your server

doesn´t reveal this secret to yo you, I gve it here:

Write to that address, but in the body of the letter say ONLY "Un".

Nothing else and also leave out the inverted quotation marks: just the word

Un. After that you will remain icognito, unknown to the list, only a

vague memory of someone who apparently was with us, but has left!

God bless you and forgive your sins, including this withdrawal from the list!

Mani

Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!!

Namaste dear brother Mani, and all the listers...

thank you dear brother for that wonderful, entertaining, wildly funny

letter, in response to my "anti-social" leanings.......

as for tyagis, really i do not feel my self to be qualified either, as

i am not in orange, with one of those Ananda names....and just like

you, have wishes, and desires and such.... in my case it's more like

the world has renounced me....as i grew more and more aware of its

trickery, and falseness (the social world)... less inclined to play

the games....and interested in new ones which most people are

disinclined to pursue...so this tyaga came from "above" not so much

from my own will of 'trying' to be a renunciate....i still am not

trying to be a renunciate...but live quite a renunciate life...without

'trying'...it just seems natural...as the worldly rewards just don't

do it for me any more.

however, also just like you, it's ok if the Mother decides not to

fulfill my wishes for Her own reasons...i accept this too...as being

better for me....the wishes are not gone but the "expectations" of

having my own way are....which leaves a lot more room for the Beloved

Deity....

actually the way that Amma talks of renunciation, it is not that one

puts on ochre cloth and doesn't eat this, and doesn't do that...and so

on...but rather, that the person accepts whatever comes as Prasad

from the Divine...when there is nice food, he eats, when there is none

he doesn't...and it's ok either way....when there's a lovely girl (or

guy!) to relate to...GREAT! but if not GREAT too!!...to me this is the

real renunciation...to accept whatever comes as the Gift of the

Divine...or at least the will of the divine...this entire life then is

seen to be Shakti prasad...or Guru Prasad...

it reminds me of that old story where the two monks out on a

pilgrimage came upon a beautiful young woman, unable to cross the

rushing flooding stream....the older one just picked her up on his

shoulder and carried her across...the younger one said not a word, but

looked VERY disapprovingly on this behaviour....at the end of the day,

after a long walk...and not a word had been exchanged between the two

monks, and as they were settling down for the night...the younger

monk finally couldn't take it any more...he said peevishly: "Why did

you pick that lady up and carry her across the river? You know that we

monks are not supposed to even TALK or LOOK at women, much less carry

them across rivers....!"

the older Monk just quietly, with a smile responded...."yes, but i put

her down on the other side....why are you still carrying her?"

this perfectly illustrates renunciation to me.

this indicates a certain fluidity, or flowing with the circumstances,

instead of a rigidity, which is often associated with "spiritual"

people....the rules are not made to be "obeyed"...

but rather, when one SEES what is necessary, those rules will

automatically hold sway...but NOT as rules, more as obvious guidelines

or signposts...just in the same way that once we have burned our

finger on a hot stove, we don't need any rules to not put it there

again...in just such a way, does renunciation develop, naturally, just

like a plant growing in the spring....the rules instead of being from

the outside, are actually the inner guiding "blueprints" for the

growing plant....it just naturally grows in that right way because it

is obviously the right way to go...following the sun.

so much for my two cents....that and a buck will buy you a

coffee...oops not in Germany, i forgot...much more expensive there!

Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!!!

Namaste dear all!!

Mani meet Sucetas mon...who's trying to gracefully withdraw his

present address from the list, and who promises faithfully to

reinstate his somewhat dubious membership under a new address...

i think that rebirth as a posty would be far too light a punishment

for such abandonment... and i am sure that Amma will think up a

suitable response for such treachery....after all, dear Sucetas is yet

another of Her darling infant sons...

so Mani meet your quickly leaving brother Sucetas mon....and quickly

leaving brother Sucetas mon meet your oh-so-elderly-yet venerable, and

most adorably loveable, feisty oldest brother....our own Manu...i'm

sorry i never made the introductions before, but i see that you are

already quite comfortable with each others quaint temperaments!

as you can see, Mani is a past master with those typing fingers...and

we must thank him ever so much for lightening the dreary days with his

wonderful sense of irreverent humour....

Oh i DO so love it when my brothers meet each other...if only in cyber

space....i wonder which "loka" that would be?...cyberLoka?

WE LOVE YOU MANI!!!and Sucetas....if you come back!

Hi Visvanathan, thank you, for sharing your thoughts about solitude and

it not being a sign of mental illness. That sure takes a load off.

Thank you also for your thoughts on Rahu as atmakaraka. Well, my

birthday is Nov 3, 1973 8:46am Agana, Guam. The vim. dasa I'm in is

Rahu/Venus from the moon or Venus/Rahu from my lagna, so, that's why it

worried me, to see that possession yoga there in my shastiamsa. Thank

you if you see anything else, and here's the degrees below if that's

better, Angie
