Guest guest
Hi all programme and PC users! During the last three years I have tried to protect myself from PC disasters by installing Mc Afee and Fist Aid. They served me for a time, but became very independent, abstruse and arrogan! They kept finding errors. The manual fix instructions were often beyond my meagre intelligence. The autofix worked wonders sometimes, BUT often did weird things and I had to re-install many or all programmes. This reminds me of Frankenstein and the monster he made. Frankenstein was a good guy and the monster too. But the monster, who had only one wish, to love and be loved, was treated badly and went berserk, caused much damage - and finally destroyed himself. First Aid destroyed itself, in that I threw it out. Now I have acquired Norton Utilities and Virus protection. Yesterday I had a problem and invoked old Norton, with chin on the palm in a rather odd pose! As always happens, at least to me, I pressed a button. It was irrevocable! Norton took over comletely and fixed 94 problems, re-arranged my harddisc - which I had just then already defragmented. I sat there, watching the "monster" playing havoc, impotent. I could have interrupted, but did not know the consequences: changes had already been made, so it could end in chaos. At the end I prayed and made a new cold start. Lo and behold! The desktop was okay, all programmes started and worked - except one that never did! - and everything much much faster than before! Some stupid starting announcements of impending disaster and reproachful remarks about my having moved files etc. were all gone! The monster had done a good job. Now I shall give him love and hope he will always be a friend. God bless Norton and his monster.
