Guest guest
--just a few questions.. How can one feel compassion for the animal and not for the plant? Is one more beloved of God than the other? How can animals tear another animal up and eat it while the other is still alive? Why do some plants crowd out the light, making other plants die? Why do animals in some areas eat so many plants that the land goes barren? Why do a few specimens of plant life eat protein; they will digest insects and meat? Is the plant the lower form of life, should it be uneaten by one having compassion? Is the animal the lower form of life, should the animal not be eaten? Which one serves its Creator better? Which one is more likely to eat you? What kind of bread is eaten daily? Who Knows the answer to these questions? Best to all, Carol
Guest guest
1st off if you pick a fruit or nut from the a tree how is that killing the tree? ! In this material world one living entity is food for another but human life means discrimination. There is indeed a big difference between butchering an animal and a vegetable however how do we justify this since the Vedas say that plants have a soul also? In the Third Chapter, verse thirteen, Sri Krsna explains that only the remains of sacrifice are purified and fit for consumption by those who are seeking advancement in life and release from the clutches of the material entanglement. Those who do not make an offering of their food, He says in the same verse, are said to be eating only sin. Also in the Bhagavad Gita 9.26 the Lord says " If one offers me a fruit, flower leaf or water I will accept" Therefore we do not offer or eat meat, fish or eggs. If the lord desired meat he would have said so. In these verses a Karma free diet is clearly outlined. Although a vegetarian may have to kill a plant if he makes a sacrificial offering of it to God 1st before eating it he will be released from all Karma of killing the plant. Just like you might have killed someone while being in the military but are immune to punishment because you did it under the authority of the government. It is not enough to simply be a vegetarian. Monkeys are vegetarians also.We should accept the authority of the Vedas because they are given to us from the Creator. Speculative knowledge can't be trusted because of man's imperfect senses.
