Guest guest
Hi, here in England, the problem of foot & mouth disease among animals is in its 3rd week and expected to peak on the 5th. There are already 107 cases and 61,000 animals (of 8 million) have been slauthered already. Some people are panicking and stocking meat just in case that they run out of it. Well, my mother was told by doctors (they are (or were) respected by people as authorities) to give me meat to eat cos "it is good for children", and therefore my mother followed their instructions and gave me meat to eat. She, like her mother before, and me, became conditioned to eat meat to "survive". In rich countries the meat industry is more powerful and persuasive and has conditioned millions of people to eat meat. The propaganda & brainwashing that humans need meat to live has conditioned many to think that they will starve if they do not eat meat. I broke that conditionment more than 30 years ago cos i felt that i was cheated by the whole thing and i have not touch meat since then. I am still alive & healthy and the lack of meat did not produce any harm effect like predicted by "professional experts" that have been bought, brainwashed or conditioned by the power of the meat industry. Therefore, it is sad to see that many people still think that meat is a must. With the present problem in England, meat sales are up 20% and the price of meat is up 50%. Now, rich countries know that it cost too much to subsidize the meat industry and they are trying to encourage the meat industry to get their meat from poor countries like Brazil, where deforestation to make fields for cattle (MacDonalls profiting from it) is causing serious ecological problems. In the long term, the common market is going to get rid of farmers and fishermen cos they cost a lot to governments. Many farmers are going to be put out of business with the present disease and people are going to demand meat from poor countries. A vicious circle. It would be great for people to break free from the conditionment of eating meat. natabara
