Guest guest
Dear J, I seem to be tripping over myself lately. Making assumptions. Living in my own head and not explaining myself very well. As Das so beautifully explained, Lagna Lord Venus conjunct Ketu in 12th is a difficult placement in itself. If Venus or Ketu are in Chitra Nakshatra ruled by Mars, that may add to explaining his penchant for telling fibs. I thought of the arudas as he may be under pressure of others' expectations. Or, maybe others cannot understand his motivations. If the rest of the planets are in good shape, this placement in and of itself can lead to self undoing.(with others seeing Mad not Bad). In which case, he could be counselled with "Little boys with sticky fingers spend time as a Lifers' bitch"!. Just Kidding. He would need to learn to take responsibility for his actions. If Venus or Ketu are in Hasta Nakshatra ruled by the Moon, and the Moon is badly afflicted, this could indicate psychosis. Would you mind posting his birth details?. Thank You, Ann. Guest guest
Dear Ann, You wrote: "If Venus or Ketu are in Hasta Nakshatra ruled by the Moon, and the Moon is badly afflicted, this could indicate psychosis." Is this because venus is lagna lord, or is it a general rule? I also saw the combinations for insanity posted by another member of this group. One such combination says that when Gulika and Mercury are together, it causes insanity. In my case Gulika and Mercury are in the eighth in Hasta. Moon is debilitated in the kendra in scorpio. Should I be concerned?
Guest guest
Dear Venkatesh Your concern over the conjunction of Gulika/Mercury is understandable, however it's necessary to judge the horoscope as a whole rather than blindly applying results of combinations (yogas) found in ancient texts. There are many factors that can either support or nullify most yogas. Insanity is a very strong term and for this to occur the chart in general, and MO/ME/5th lord in particular, need to suffer strong affliction, void of assistance from other planets. Certainly the conjunction of Gulika/Mercury (which I also have) will produce some negative effects during periods of Gulika's dispositor. One's perception of things can suffer to a greater or lesser degree depending on other factors, or one may find oneself feeling unjustifiably paranoid at times, lack of clear thinking (reasoning) at times perhaps...things of that nature...but insanity!? Many factors must be considered before one can predict that. Regards Wendy Venkatesh wrote: I also saw the combinations for insanity posted by another member of this group. Guest guest
Well to start with you don't have Gulika conjunct Mercury. According to my calculations Gulika is conjunct 4/9 lord Venus (in 9th). Mercury is in moolatrikona sign in 8th house...the aspect from (friendly) Mars gives a sharp intellect...not cloudy or afflicted at all. However, as Mars is dispositor of Moon, you can be subject to some ups and downs (highs and lows)...sometimes courageous, sometimes fearful. The greatest difficulty I see is in relation to work/career with Rahu inimically placed in 6th house of work, and Moon fallen in 10th house of career. Ascendant lord Saturn (dispositor of divine planet Jupiter) in own home in 12th, conjunct moksha karaka Ketu, gives a strong push towards enlightenment. Apart from Moon and Rahu you have a very strong chart: SU, ME, VE are all in their moolatrikona signs; Asc lord SA is in own sign, whilst vargottama JU has dik bala strength in ascendant. Also it's important to note that Moon is well past it's degree of greatest fall and therefore (technically speaking) is heading towards it's sign of exaltation. Perhaps other astrologers would like to add their thoughts to this and possibly offer remedies for (atma karaka) Moon. BTW do you have a name? Regards Wendy YOU WROTE: Wendy, Here are My Birth Time: September 7, 1962 6:11PM, Poona (18N34, 73E58) Can you please help me? I tend to get worried when I see such combinations. Guest guest
Dear Venkatesh YOU WROTE: I have GJ and yes it shows Gulika in Libra. However, I am wondering if there is a bug in this software or Gulika is calculated differently in GJ. In all the other copies of my horoscope (from various sources and done in different years), Gulika appears in Hasta Nakshatra along with Mercury in Virgo, and is a few degrees apart from Mercury. MY REPLY: There are different methods for calculating Gulika and (as far as I'm concerned) the jury's still out on which one is correct. I actually used Parashara's Light to calculate your chart as I'd forgot how to calculate the upagrahas with GJ (sorry Das). With PL I get Gulika 04.16 Libra. I would appreciate some input from other astrologers regarding the calculation of Gulika. It would seem though that both PL and GJ (two top programs) have Gulika in Libra. YOU WROTE: As far as Mars' aspect on Mercury is concerned, isn't that a malefic aspect? Granted that Mars is a functional benefic and improved by Jupiter's aspect, but he is still a natural Malefic (therefore mixed results) MY REPLY: Mixed results indeed but important to note that Mars is friendly to Mercury (being in 10th house from him), so the results as far as intellectual ability is concerned are more beneficial...sharp intellect! My previous comment: ========== The greatest difficulty I see is in relation to work/career with Rahu inimically placed in 6th house of work, and Moon fallen in 10th house of career. Your Thoughts =========== You have Nailed it. Although I have made a name for myself at work, success comes at a very high price for me. I am totally consumed by my work which takes all my energy. Inspite of my success, I find that I have to take a very "yes sir" type approach. I find that if I am not careful, I can get into the "bad books". I can't stand incompetency which is one of the reasons I gave up my managament position. I just can't see spending my life telling people what to do, tolerate insubordination, etc. etc. I am much happier without the power to control people vested in me. These days, I am happy to have a job. MY REPLY: Moon in 10th denotes that one will be emotionally attached to their career and spend a great deal of time achieving success in what they do. Because Moon is weakened in Scorpio success will not be all that easy...as you said, it comes slowly and at a price. YOU WROTE: I wonder how my Moon Dasa will be. This is a mind boggling question. In most vargas moon occupies good houses. But it is debilitated and afflicted by Rahu's aspect. Does it mean I will lose my Job, Status, Income and Peace of Mind during Moon (my Atmakaraka)dasa? What kind of lessons do I have to learn? MY REPLY: You're likely to encounter some instability in this area...some changes...some ups and downs career wise. But not all bad (in my opinion) as Moon is well placed in 10th divisional chart. Certainly some changes can be expected though, especially as the Karaka for 10th (Mercury) is in 8th house of change (metamorphous). With Mercury exalted I think the changes will for the best. At the time though change can sometimes seem catastrophic :-) My previous comment: ========= Ascendant lord Saturn (dispositor of divine planet Jupiter) in own home in 12th, conjunct moksha karaka Ketu, gives a strong push towards enlightenment. Your Reply =========== 100% true. However, I have noted that ketu dasa/antardasa's so far have not been good. During My Ketu dasa I went from the top five in the (school) class to one who failed his class two years in a row. (1973-74). Saturn antardasa's have been mixed. My Sadesati was also mixed. MY REPLY: Both SA and KE are in the constellation (nakshatra) of MOON. Of course you know that both the nodes are bitter enemies of Moon...so not surprising that things could be difficult for you during Ketu's periods. YOU WROTE: The only thing good in the horoscope is many Planets being in their own house or in trines. I just hope I will not lose my mind some day because of the Gulika/Mercury Combination in Virgo, that too in the eighth. I seen how the chart maybe otherwise strong, but the rule just hits me hard (Gulika+Mercury=Insane+Virgo=Worse) MY REPLY: Atmakaraka Moon (planet of the mind) fallen in 10th and aspecting 4th house of happiness & contentment can make one a natural "worrier" but I think you're worrying unduly...especially in regards to Gulika...as I said, my calculations have him in Libra. I hope others will offer some advice on this Regards Wendy
Guest guest
Hello Venkatesh, I hope you do not mind me contributing to your chart questions. Mercury in the 8th exalted is excellent both. The 8th is a rajayoga postion for Mercury, especially in own house. Mars in this chart is functionally malefic, because although it owns the strongest kendra, it also owns the 3rd house, which makes it overall malefic. As it afflicts the 5th house, its lord, and Mercury it is bad for your peace of mind, and will cause anger during its cycle, but will not cause insanity. It is bad, because Mercury is the worst enemy of Mars. However Mars due to this reason is weak as it is in its enemy's house. Secondly its aspect will deter Mercury, but now overpower it, due to Mercury's exaltation. Moon debilitated in the 10th will cause you to focus on your career during its dasa, the thoughts will be troubled and worrisome due to the debilitation, and there is no neechabhanga. However as Wendy has correctly pointed out, Moon is not in fact debilitated, but leaving debilitation, which causes mixed results. Results attributed to this are lording over a woman, profit from sales, yet also disease. However these are general, but just to show you that the results will be mixed. secondly there is the gajakesari yoga it combines with jupiter, who is vargottama and otherwise favourably disposed, with Venus' rasi dristi. So this will help your career, and removes affliction to Moon in regards to career achievement as this is a rajayoga. Rahu in Cancer, and Ketu in Capricorn according to some classics are in their own signs or at least strongly placed.
