Guest guest
Dear Natabar and Inder Jit, Thank you for the information regarding your sucessfrul gem treatments. With the gentleman's erectile problems, I am curious, where did he wear the stone? Just kidding. Anyway, as Natabar observed, and was confirmed by Wendy's moving story, there are two planes of existence, the material and the spiritual. The material is temporary, and the spiritual is eternal. We, as spiritual beings, belong to the eternal realm. We are all part of it and it is there that our true interests lie. Yes, it is true that a certain class of person, being too afflicted by the demands of the body and mind, requires satiation; Natabars hungry man example. It is also true that unless his material needs are met he has no intrest in anything more than filling his belly. But not every class of person fits in this category. Some are satisfied with whatever comes to them without tremendous effort, others voluntarily fast to access a higher realm of consciousness. Not everyone is "hungry." Nor should we remain, "hungry men". Vedic literatures, of which Jyotir-ved and Ayur-ved are a part, are meant to bring us to a higher realm of understanding. They are not exclusively meant for solving erectile or digestive dysfunction. Certainly that's part of it, having a comfortable, materially satisfying life, bur it's not the whole picture. I think that if we loose sight of the GOAL of Vedic literature, which is spiritual progress, self knowledge and salvation, then we remain blind to the ultimate, priceless treasure of the Vedas. Similarly, taking asprin, although, "not mentioned in the writingds of Parashar", certainly is capable of curing a headache. But unfortunately, asprin can never cure the root cause of headaches. It can only mask the symptomatic pain. Western medicine is good at that. In my opinion, Parashar's "medicine" and the medicine of all sages and saints of his calibre is meant to cure the root cause of our pain in this material world. That cure is not available by spending allot of money and putting a gem on your finger. Ultimately the Vedas call us to far loftier goals than that. If that's all a person is able to understand, well ok, but is it serving humanities interests to only make them more comfortable in material life? Personally, I don't think so. Thank you for reading this and considering my opinion on the matter.
