Guest guest
Dear Members, It's understandable that, on a list such as this, the topics revolve as much around religion as they do around the science of astrology...both are intimately connected! The 9th house of religion is known also as the house of "natural law", of which jyotish is the window of...looking through the window of jyotish we are (all) privileged to see God's natural law in action. The Bhagavad-Gita states: "when the mind disciplined by the practice of meditation becomes steady, one becomes content with the Eternal Being by beholding him with purified intellect. One feels infinite bliss that is perceivable only through the intellect, and is beyond the reach of the senses." The Gita says in other verses that "Self-knowledge" is the greatest knowledge. At the risk of sounding grandiose I would like to share an experience I had of the infinite nature of "Self"...and share with you the astrological indications that point to such experiences...so all-encompassing is natural law! During one particularly lengthy surgical operation I went into fibulation and was clinically dead for a short time. I remember the experience as clearly as though it was yesterday, although it happened many years ago. I witnessed my soul (self) leaving the body and watched the medical staff working on my body from above. Not only was I aware of what they were doing, but more importantly, I was aware of their thoughts and feelings as though they and I were one...I "experienced" their concern and felt overwhelming compassion for them. I wanted to reach out and assure them that "all was well" but they were unaware of "Me"...they could only see my lifeless body. During that brief experience of death I was never more alive, more at peace! Re-entering my body was (again) a very conscious thing...I experienced it as heavy, uncomfortable and painful...I was aware of being trapped in the flesh once more. I'm sure the medical staff felt overjoyed that I had come alive again, but to me it was more like I'd died again on entering the body. I have come close to that experience of "self" (soul), the Self Realization that Krishna speaks of, several times during deep meditation when, in that magic moment, the "Self" steps back and witnesses itself meditating/thinking etc...having had these experiences, am I attached to the material body...the answer is emphatically No! But, whilst in this physical body, I would rather avoid physical pain if at all possible...and if employing the necessary remedial measure will help me do that, then I see that as a divine blessing. So what are the astrological indications of "experience of death"...in my horoscope 8th lord Sun in 8th (moolatrikona), conjunct yogakaraka Venus can give such experiences. Unfortunately I cannot remember the date of this experience...even the year is a bit fuzzy as such a lot was happening in my life at that time...many changes...so I can't check the dasa periods with any certainty...but I can pretty-well guess where I was!
