Guest guest
Hi, I don't understand the difference between these two, could somebody please explain them? And also, why is the combination of those two together very favorable? Thanks for any help, Angie
Guest guest
Angie: The 9th represents good fortune generally, the father, higher learning, religion, foreign travel. It's considered one of the "best" houses, along with the 1st and the 5th. The 10th represents career mostly, and related things like fame, public recognition, etc. It is in the "second-level" of "goodness" of houses, the angular houses, along with the 4th and 7th. The reason why they are so good together is that you're combining a trikona(1,5,9) house with an angular(4,7,10) house. According to vedic rules, this is the best combination there is. If one planet rules both of these kinds of houses, it's a special yoga called yoga karaka. Of these combinations, the 9th and 10th is usually considered the best. So if you have say Leo rising, the 9th will be Aries and the 10th will be Taurus. So if the rulers Mars and Venus combine by aspect or conjunction the things the houses rule will be strengthened. If you have Taurus rising, Aq will be 10th house and Cp will be 9th. In that situation, Saturn rules both of these houses and becomes yogakaraka -- probably the best planet for the person with Taurus rising. So to answer your question, "why" is this favourable, all I can do is quote vedic rules. There may be some deeper reason from vedic writings that others can offer. In my experience, though, it works pretty well. Chris At 08:11 AM 2/12/01 -0600, you wrote: >Hi, I don't understand the difference between these two, could somebody >please explain them? Guest guest
Om Krishnaaya Namah Hello Everybody, >> There may be some deeper reason from vedic writings that others can offer.<< Parashara tells us that the kendras are the houses of Lord Sri Vishnu (who in the Trimurti (Trinity) takes the role of the Preserver). The trikonas are the houses of his spouse and Shakti, Lakshmi Devi, who is the Goddess of fortune. So when the Lord's of these houses conjoin i.e. when Vishnu and Lakshmi are together, the situation is highly auspicious, and in a horoscope causes the preservation of fortune - Commonly called a Raja Yoga. Hope it helps, Pursottam
Guest guest
Hi, thanks Pursottam and Chris, that was helpful I do have a question though...using the Leo lagna as example, if Mars aspected Venus with his 8th and Venus aspected from her sign, is that a Raja Yoga too? Guest guest
Angie: I'm not clear on this. Mars and Venus are where? Guest guest
Hi Chris, sorry for being unclear, I was wondering about sign aspects but mixed with a special aspect, so Mars in a moveable with Venus in a fixed 8 away. It seems like there should be some kind of preservation there I would think, but I wonder how much. Angie
Guest guest
Angie: It's been a while so I'm not clear on your question. But rules are rules and if Venus is 8 signs away from Mars and one is the 9th lord and the other 10th lord, then there is a yoga formed. Now, it may not be a very powerful one. That depends on the relative strength of both planets. Sign qualities don't play a key role in yoga formation, as far as I know. Guest guest
Hi Chris, actually you cleared it up for me real nicely I thought that when planets were invloved in a yoga that they had to be mutually aspecting, but now I think I understand a little better. But just to make sure, would the Raja Yoga only have affect on the house where Venus is? I guess that's what I was wondering all along, what happens to the house where Mars is. Now I hope that's more clear, sometimes I confuse myself more than anything Angie
