All,

I recently purchased GJ. It comes with lots of charts.

This charts are stored under lists.

1. How do I create my own list ?

2. How can I see all charts or grouping by categories

like 'actors' or politician'?

3. When I create new chart, how do I assign it to

particular group or list ?

thanks.

The best thing I can suggest to get a thorough working knowledge of the

program, is to watch the videos that come on the CD. They're brilliant. So

in your case you should watch all the list management videos especially. But

here's a brief answer to your questions based on windows style A:

1. Click on "List/Open charts". In the main body of the Window, bring up all

the people you want in that list (any charts you enter are automatically

saved as "My charts", so clicking on list all my charts will bring up all

those you've entered and then by selecting "add to", you can add any others.

Once this list is ready, click "save this list" at the bottom, and then

it'll ask you to name it etc.

2. In the same window, click "List by characteristics". Select whatever you

want and that's about it. But make sure you've got "famous" selected as

well.

3. Bring up the list using "Open saved list", and then select "add to" and

then add the chart you want. Save it.

This probably seems really confusing, but hey, it's easy and can be done!

Watch the videos.

Hope it's helped,

These charts are added to the datafile. They're not stored as a single file.

The datafile does in fact have a limit somewhere, but if needed an extra

segment can be added. It's actually quite easy, but can go horribly wrong if

you do something wrong. But you probably won't need to add an extra segment

anyway. As regards backing-up charts, Good idea! Take it from someone who

doesn't (or didn't) regularly do this. But don't try backing-up the whole

datafile. If you want to back-up all your charts, under the file menu,

select "Export/Import" and then "Export all charts". Then it will ask you

for a location. I usually put it on the desktop, so it's easy to send to a

floppy and then delete. This will then create a very small file containing

pretty much all data you've entered (including notes, addresses etc.). If

for whatever unfortunate reason, you do need to reinstall the program, you

can import that data back into GJ using this saved file. I'm pretty certain

there is a video about all this on the CD.

> 2. what about famous charts ? where is that file ?

Again, all that data is part of the datafile. Don't bother backing up any

famous charts, as these will be included in the datafile if you have to

reinstall anyway.

It's a kindof miscellaneous chart storage area. If you have some charts that

you don't really use but want to still keep, you can refile them from "My

Charts" to the Archive. So for example, my main charts are all fully named,

have at least a brief biography in the notes, all have a description, all

have some astrological notes, and I try to ensure the data is fairly 'pure'.

I can use these for research, or for proper testing of whatever idea etc.

But often you get charts from books, or from the list etc. which are notable

in some respect, but you don't know names, bio etc., but I might still want

to keep them. These I archive.

You're welcome.
