The fact that some techniques available in Parashara predict past lives

doesn't prove their efficacy. How would we know they were correct? There

is no means to verify, unlike predictions made pertaining to people's

current lives. I remember seeing an episode of the TV show Unsolved

Mysteries a few years ago that dealt with one man's claim to have been

another man in a previous life. He was an ordinary 40 year old man from

Maine, USA (or somewhere like that) and claimed to have been born in

Pennsylvania and fought in the US army in WW2 and died in battle (actually

I don't remember the circumstances of his death). The way he made his

claims more compelling was to provide information about his past life

incarnation that *no one but a very close intimate or family member could

have known*. And he seemed to do this, recalling family events from

childhood, etc. His information was verified by the surviving brothers

and sisters of his WW2 soldier incarnation.

 

One can never be sure about these things, since any program on television

is automatically suspect (the profit motive and sensationalism going

hand-in-hand) and the brothers and sisters could be lieing, or just

agreeing with whatever he said out of respect/love of the memory of their

long lost brother. And yet, to me, this is the only satisfactory *way* to

go about looking into reincarnation cases. What's the evidence? After

all, isn't that how we figure out if we're on the right track when we do

*this*-life astrology? Without adequate means to verify claims, I think

astrological analyses of reincarnation will remain a speculative venture.
