Guest guest
Hello, I am new to this list and new at jyotish. I would like to know a little something about what appears to be a contridiction. I am sure it is not, only that I am lacking in knowledge. Ok, so I am doing charts for my friends in order to learn. One lady, her Jupier reads great! The house, the sign, all come out wonderful! But the "lord of," awful. (You know, the lord of yada yada has gone to blah blah. Awful!) Now of course, Jupiter is a malefic for her rising. So that makes sense, however, how does one read the sign and house for such people? And what do you say? "Oh, your house and sign are great, but now, please ignore everything I just told you about them, as the lord counters it all." ? <s> And I guess I would also like to know what to tell myself. Which is true? Or, does the house/sign hold ANY benefics, and if so, to what degree? Have I sufficiently confused everyong? lol Thank you for your time. I wasn't receiving posts for a few days so didn't see this at the time. I might, if I may, just give a very simple example of how the planets in houses and the placement of the lord of that house work. A native known to me has yogakaraka Mars in 2nd house of "finances/family". This native has the ability to earn good income (at times way above normal), however, as 2nd lord Venus has gone to 12th house of "loss", he's unable to hold onto his money...there is always some expenditure that eats away at his earnings and he's just never able to save anything for a rainy day. I'm sure people earning much less than him would have a healthier bank balance...often it's his wife who spends most of his money as Venus rules spouse. He comes from a very fine family (his grandfather is in the history archives of his country of birth as one of the prominent foretrekkers), however he's been seperated from his family for most of his life from the age of 16 when he "went off" to seek his fortune elsewhere. Hope this helps Regards Wendy
Guest guest
Just a small correction, was doing this from memory, and on checking I find the native in question has SU as 2nd lord (conjunct VE/ME in 12th). But same delineation/principle (as given) applies. Wendy Dear Yogini, I just picked your post up in the archives. I wasn't receiving posts for a few days so didn't see this at the time. Guest guest
Hi Wendy, Thanks a lot for a good example. I have a lady here with Taurus Lagna, Jupiter in Taurus Jupiter Lord of both 11th and, 8th *where her Sun is*- she has a well paying job, her husband pushed to get more, more, yet her major income is coming from family abroad..Never happy with what she has- more, more, more- is that's one effects of Juper-Lord of 8(and 11th?? Heavily overweighed, little happiness in her home..But nothing seems enough for her..(Seems like a psychologically hungry person- but all attempts to communicated that to her, failed, She was born at December 16, 1952, at 1pm, at Thesaloniki (Greece)- she is in Rahy dasha now (seems easier than Mars dasha, for her) and Rahy is in 9th House (Saturn, Lord of 9th, and 10TH in 6house) She seems even worse since rahu dasha strated- complaining about various body pains, not knowing exactly what bothers her- suggestion that he she a psychiatrist- took as a rejection, from me,, )She doesn't love her body-- Moon in 12th, opposite exalted -Saurtn and Mars in 6th. Don't know what to tell her- she is like a growing square..Her Asc Ruler is Venus in Scorpio, and mercury is there.. I wish I could Help her.. And what will be wth her if this trend continues? When she asks about rahu period- I can think only of even worse gross materialism (vulgar?), if anything. Mybe you would be able to see this differently- I am maybe too envolved. Do you have any idea? I would truly appreciate that- (since the worse she looks, the worse person she becomes (at least it's my impression..) Thanks a lot! Guest guest
Sorry Wendy, I was given the chart-already done (maybe the relocated one?)- now that you brought that to my attention, I see : Salonika(I), Greece, (-2 hr. East European time) longitude:22 E 55; latitude 40N35. gives different result. Yours being most likely right-(On JJ - Ar'27 rising!)- .. would rather hear what you would say You are obviously right- questions are still there- among others, how current period(!) would manifest? Sorry for the confusion. Thanks a lot! Anna
Guest guest
Anna, The first requirement (ALWAYS) is to make sure we have the horoscope correct before giving a reading :-) What you say about this lady's compulsive desire for more & more material gains is a wonderful example of Rahu in 11th house of "Gains". According to my calculations she began RA mahadasa Nov '99 and will be under his influence until Nov '17. Her current period being RA-RA-ME. The problem with Rahu is that what he gives never seems to satisfy, so that, even though there may be plentiful gains, the native is left feeling empty/unsatisfied and hungry for more. Rahu's dispositor SA is associated with 2/9 lord MA in 8th house of "unearned income" so Yes! she may well receive income from "family"...particularly as 2nd house (family) is Mars' moolatrikona sign...and if you look closely you will see that both RA/SA own 12th house, denoting gains/unearned income from abroad. With dasa lord's dispositor in 8th house of chronic illness it's understandable that she is feeling aches and pains in her body (SA is the greatest inflictor of "pain"). Instead of advising her to see a psychiatrist, she should be advised to see the best doctor to get to the cause of her aches and pains...an Ayurvedic doctor would be preferable. Domestic harmony is attributed to 2nd house. Moon in this house is afflicted by placement and by aspect (SA/MA). The aspect of SA on MO gives rise to unhappiness/depression etc...so not good for domestic harmony... She should be advised to wear Pearl to strengthen Moon...also Yellow Sapphire to strengthen ascendant lord JU who is in retrograde motion and is in the house of a great enemy. I do not advocate the use of substitute gems (uparatna's)...a substitute is always just a substitute and in Maharishi's own words; "You know the difference and so do the planets". Much more to tell with this horoscope but for now (due to time restriction) I will leave the rest to you. Just take note of Rahu's placement in navamsha...in 4th house of "happiness & contentment", hemmed in between SA & 8th lord VE. Guest guest
Dear Wendy, Absolutely agree. You were able to understand her desire for more and more- exhausting her family to an unbelievable extent- to, in my opinion, compensate for her bad marriage, bad looks, she is growing fetter on a daily basic. There is no doctor she hasn't visited yet- Her house is as full as a pharmacy! I had a strong feeling that Moon pearls may help her- it just happened (I am in Moon-debilitated in Scorpio dasha), that I received 2 pair of pearls- I wanted to give her one- she refused (I don't have a neck- so fat she is) But if she continue to grow at this speed, as, correct me if I am wrong, Rahu in 11th would compel her to, nothing good can come out of it- or maybe for some reasons, she can stop growing... I wish that happened.. Thanks Wendy, a lot!
