Guest guest
Namaste friends, I had a client today, whose chart illustrated aspects of Rahu very graphically. Briefly, she has Sg rising, with 12th lord Mars in Sc in the 12th at 22 degrees. Rahu, is in the 8th in Cn, at 22 degrees. Now, at the exact beginning of the Mars dasa (at age 14), she started getting heavily into drugs, and by the middle of the dasa, had become a heroine addict. Saturn also aspected Mars, but by a wide margin. The key point is the 5th house aspect of Rahu, who from the 8th in Cn (a very addiction oriented sign), aspected Mars to the exact degree. Its important to note that Mars is her Atmakaraka also, which means that the affliction of Rahu was taken upon herself voluntarily, and not due to the force or pressures of others. Of course, you can also say that Mars/Rahu were mutually aspecting by rasi drishti, but I think the orb of aspect by Rahu's graha drishti is poignant. Either way, it is a very illustrative example of how Rahu aspects - either by sign or graha drishti - are very powerful, and should not be overlooked. Guest guest
Dear Members Vedic astrology differs from Western in that an aspect made to a house (by a particular planet), and subsequently to the planets therein, is not calculated by degree. There seems to be an awful lot of mixing and matching between the two schools of Astrology going on at the moment...this must be very confusing to neophytes, and does little to preserve the purity of Vedic knowledge. In regards to "Drug taking" there are three important houses to take into consideration. 2nd house: Partaking of wrong foods and drinks. 6th house: Vices. 12th house: Intoxicating substances. (and to a lesser degree the 8th house of chronic dis-ease and 3rd house of motivation) In the chart Robert put forward, the native has KE in 2nd in Nakshatra of 8th lord MO. Ketu affects the nervous system and is associated with poison. For this native Asc L JU (in 10th) is in the company of 2nd lord SA (dispositor of KE), 6th lord VE, and 8th lord MO (dispositor of compulsive RA). The aspect of all these malefic lords to 4th house quite naturally are extremely detrimental to the native's "happiness & contentment"...and they do this by inflicting the negative significations of the houses they rule. (BTW SA, KE and VE are also in constellation of 8th lord MO) The aspect of 2/3 lord SA on 5th lord MA in 12th (again) is a bad influence on the mind (expressing itself in 12th house)...the 5th being Mars' moolatrikona sign. To me the greatest danger in applying non-parashara principles is that it prevents one from examining the horoscope in depth...ahhh! Rahu is making an aspect...here is the answer...no need to look deeply! This (to me) is wrong thinking and is not in line with the teachings of Parashara. Not true, I am sorry. In the Shad-bala scheme, in which drishti balas are calculated, the closer the orb of drishti, the more strength is given in Rupas. Besides, Rashi drishti also obtained in the example I gave, and is as much Parasari, as apple pie is American. I am presenting many points underlying the "purity" of Vedic astrology, and giving many quotes from shastras (classical writings) in that regard. Your tone is always of a fighting or combative nature. Why is that, Wendy? Best wishes, Robert ===================================== Robert A. Koch, Vedic Astrologer 760 NW Broken Arrow Rd. Guest guest
Robert, I think (for the sake of clarity) we need to differentiate between Sign aspects and Planetary aspects. I also think that "stating a fact in a clear and precise manner" (which seems to be the way I do things with Mars in 5th house of mind) is not being combative...I'm sorry you see it that way! I'm simply stating the facts as clearly and precisely as possible, with no other intention than to present jyotish as it is. I have no desire to de-throne you Robert, but I feel strongly that along with leadership (in any field) comes the responsibility to lead correctly. Regards Wendy Robert A. Guest guest
Hello Wendy, I have a chart that is similar to the one under study. The ascendant is Sagittarius, with Mars in the 12th and Rahu in the 8th. During Rahu-Saturn Mahadasha, the subject began drinking excessively, and has a taken many drugs since then. The 8th house also is related to drug use and addictions, and Rahu definitely is. Guest guest
Hello Wendy, An interesting chart to study in respect to the 9th aspect of Rahu is that of Jeffrey Dahmer: 5/21/60 16:34 Milwaukee WI, USA He has Venus in Aries in the 8th house. Rahu's 9th aspect on Venus from 12th house is only off by approximately 1/6 of a degree. Venus in this chart owns the 9th house of the mind. It is in a sex house and is under the full aspect of the planet which causes the most unorthodox behaviour. Rahu's aspect perverted his mind. Jupiter aspect Venus in the 8th from the 4th house, which should encourage more normal sexual behaviour, but the aspect is very wide, whereas Rahu's is exact. It was during Venus' Mahadasa that his bizarre sexual crimes were commited. By itself Venus in Aries in the 8th house causes sexual perversions, but no where near this extent. And if the only aspect on this Venus is Jupiter, then the perversions would be more minimized. I have noticed Rahu's aspect causing insanity or possession in many charts. I find that it can be a very disturbing planet.
