Dear Mani

Aztec astrology is very fascinant, i read a book about it long time ago. The

fact is that the aztecs took that knowledge from other cultures. There are in

latinoamerica, hundreds of tribes rooted in very ancient cultures. In general,

people know more about the aztecs, Mayas, & incas but there are lots more. In

fact it is possible that all used to follow the same calendar which is going to

end on the year 2011 after more than 5000 years cycle. The 7 most important

tribes have joined together to get ready for the beginning of a new cycle, which

they believe is going to change culture as we know it. Archeologists are

confused because every year they are finding more info that destroys their

previous theories. If we see in our days, local Indians wearing their clothes

dictated by their culture in the same way as the Spaniards found them (no much

has changed in the past 500 years), it is possible that they have kept their

traditions for at least 5,000 years.

Regarding astrology, there are still brujos (wizards), some people call them

curanderos (healers) or chamanes (shamans) or in India they could call them

tantrics. There are brujos practicing arts of all colours, black, red, yellow,

you name it, they know about it. Some of them especialize in healing, others in

cursing, others in getting ready to cross dimensions, others are still

practicing their astrology. Basically, the white brujos, left the scene long

before the spaniards arrived knowing that their end was coming cos the stars

told them so. Emperor Moctezuma was an astrologer himself and read the stars &

the omens telling him of their end. Their calendar has a 52 year cycle, this

means that a single day is repeated only once in 52 years. Therefore, they used

to cebrate the 52 years cycle with the Fire ceremony, which was celebrated when

the constellation of the Fire Making (Kartikeya or Krittika) crossed the local

meridian at El Cerro de la Estrella (the Hill of the Star), south mexico city.

I have to say that Aztec people are beautifull, i know them & i have a cousin

doctor that learned their language to communicate with them. I saw them talking

to my cousin and their language is very nice. They are very artistic & like to

dance a lot. You can see their pottery, cloths, ornaments, very artistic. I

have the feeling that somehow, they were manipulated at one point by certain

asuras leaders, which had apetite for human flesh & blood. Nobody knows from

where the Aztecs came from but were tarvelling looking for the right place where

to take roots. few times during their journey the celebrated their 52 years

cycle, which astronomically it was very important for them.

Since the asuras took over the leadership (around August 1321, when they found

their sacred place to live, the aztecs became more & more cannibals. this means

that the policy of education was to be centered in a tamasic culture in which

human flesh & blood was indispensable. This i fell like a religion of tama guna

(any disagreements?). When Cortez arrived for the first time to Mexico it was

the exact year and date that Moctezuma was waiting for. Apparently, years

before Cortez arrived, Indians found a rare bird with a kind of mirroir in its

head. This thing used to tell him, to show him what was coming. Their

appearance, their ways, many things. You could imagine the kind of astrology

that those guys were following. And among the Incas in South America we have

more similar stories, later. Quetzalcoatl was a guy graduated from the Toltec

priests in Tula around the year 1000. Every graduate was given the name of

Quetzalcoatl, a priest & teacher. Those guys were very productive & positive.

The last Quetzalcoatl (i hope you can pronounce it but it gets better the more

you practice it) told the Huastecs on the area south texas, how to harvest

cotton buds, the size of a man's fist and in colours (there is only with buds in

our days). He told the Mixtecs to build another and last phase to the pyramide

of Cholula. This pyramide has in fact 7 phases, 7 layers built by different

tribes. Quetzalcoatl left music, medicine, laws, etc & left Mexico after

crossing many areas visiting the many tribes around. He left the Mayas, after

being initiated as Kukulcan (which it means the same as Quetzalcoatl) and left

on a boat towards the East, promising that he would return one day. That same

day promised by him, Cortez arrived and clean up the area. I just saw a

programe recently in which they said that Cortez was so disgusted in this room

like cave in which the walls were covered in blood and human liquids. The place

stank of death and there they had some image of their gods. Cortez tried to put

Christian icons and desinfect the place but Moctezuma told him no to. Moctezuma

treated Cortez with several wives including his own daughter. From her there

started one of the branches of the Cortez family in the new continent. Cortez

used to tell every tribe leader that he & his men had a terrible disease of the

heart, which could not be sacieted but with gold. The aztecs were the last

enemies before taking their land. The friendly tribes which helped Cortez

against the aztecs were treated as comrades (compadre).
