Guest guest
Dear Suhas I am very sorry for this delay in answering to your nice email but i am picking up my lost files after the christmas & new year season. <<Hello Natabara That is a great thought. But astrologically speaking how does one find out the focus of "duty" or calling, rather than profession. To extend this a little, we all get caught up in the material world, in the beginning watching everyone around us and surmising that I too have to run around like a rat. I dont think we spend much time analyzing what our duty, focus, likes etc are. I submit that if we following our "calling" there will be less stress. This will be a good practical application of astrology. Suhas Astrologically speaking the focus of "duty" or calling can be seen from the 9th house, the house of dharma, duty, guru, religion, belief system etc. And profession can be seen from the 10th house. Both of those houses are sometimes very difficult to asses. You are right when saying that this material level in which we are living at present distract us from analyzing what our duty could be. That is one of the trends of maya, or that which is not, distraction from higher levels of understanding. When we jivas (spirit souls) are undiferenciated is when we are part of the whole marginal nature. However, when we become individuals in the process called incarnation, we become units. Because each one of us is a unit and every unit is a part of the whole we have a similar nature. Unfortunately, while on this material level, most of us have been conditioned or programmed to activate a certain behaviour. That is how civilizations start, grow, burst & dissapear, because of the interaction of activities developed by all those units. Mismanagemenet brings disaster to a few or to all the units. From a perfect vedic society, in which the vedic rules are properly applied without exploitation or speculation, every unit learns their duty. With the distortion of those rules, "the i know better than you", corruption and mismanagement comes & the whole society suffers. And like you say "if we follow our duty there will be less stress". That is why we should find our duty and that duty can be revealed by guru. Every unit has a guru, some have not seen that function yet, some others are searching for that, & some others have found their duty already with the help of Guru. The original Guru promised in the beginning to rescue every unit from maya by giving a proper duty. Sri Guru is within & without every unit & the best level from which we can apreciate guru is with our intuition, love & devotion. Some people do not believe in Guru & they think that as a perfect unit, they will find their way out of maya. But if we analize our potential, especially when we are alone with our thoughts, we can see that we need help. That help starts from our heart, from our intuition. In the beginning, Lord Brahma was in darkness and alone, he was the only jiva in this particular universe. He did not have a clue about where he was, who he was, what his duty was, what he was doing there or where to go for help. When we are stuck with a problem in the computer, we go to the help button. Lord Brahma took shelter of his intuition, he consulted his heart & he was told to do tapas, austerities. After a long time performing austerities, he heard the sound of a flute which was played by the Lord, his boss & his creator. At that point a clear communication between Brahma & the Lord was open & Lord Brahma's duty was revealed. We have both material & spiritual duties, we should not neglect either but we should try to do our highest duty which in time becomes revealed to us. Many years ago, one of my architecture teachers gave me a book "Sypnosis of the 4 Gospels" & she wrote "La Ciencia del Amor y la Felicidad es encontrar nuestro deber y complacernos en El" = "The Science of Love and Happiness is to find our duty and to be pleased on Him". Well, after that i went to search for that duty & found that my gurus were giving me many duties, some easy to follow & understand & others difficult to understand. They told me "beware of illusion, you may find difficult to understand what is coming but just follow your duties". We are like conscripts, we are new in His army and therefore we are likely to make mistakes but practice makes things perfect. Then we should ask what we want. If we want a perfect marriage, then we should go to a marriage councellor. If we want magic, we should go to a magician. If we really want to know our duty, we should go to that person that can give us God. But remembering that maya can distract us and make us thing that God is Dog or a cheap thing which we can buy with our money. Our duty cannot be bought it is inhereted but it comes when we are ready. Yes, the reading of the 9th house can help to see the trends of our duties but remember that the 9th house mostly deals with spiritual values which can be changed by His will. Our mind, senses & intellect are material & therefore cannot grasp His plans, surrender is neccesary. I could not resist posting what i thought when i saw the combination described by you. Unfortunately, we are living in the material world & envious entities, both visible & invisible, try to get from us that which is given to us from above. Therefore, they try hard to deviate our attention from our duties, so we can fail in our service & dedication & that is why they give us a hard & difficult time. But if we are determined to achieve divine nectar, we will be protected by His Divine Grace.
