The full story of Mrtyu-bhagas (death-inflicting degrees) for the different planets was given in the Jataka Parijata, Chapter 1, verse 57. Dr. K.S. Charak gave some further researches that he had done on the relevance of these positions to death, in his book entitled "Subtleties of Medical Astrology". The book is available, in case you haven't read it yet. Some years ago when I lived in Seattle, I had a small class of advanced students, in which we did some convincing research on how the MB planets work. They are key and important points, and do in fact inflict death if the term of longevity has come to fruition. If the person's longevity is good, then transiting malefic planets conjoined or aspecting the planets in MB will bring excruciating miseries to the individual, to the point that he/she wished they were dead. Natal planets in MB, will bring death during the periods of transit Saturn's *exact* aspect or conjunction to them. Dasas of natal MB planets can be death inflicting, and do so when Saturn in transit comes to aspect them. This I have seen over and over again, and in my case I can give you the following example: In my chart, 9th lord Mercury is in Virgo, and in the exact MB degree for Mercury in that sign, viz. 18 degrees. Mercury natally, is in the 12th, and aspected by Saturn from the 10th, which is a maraka house for the father. During the major period of Mercury, and sub-period of Saturn, my father died, *when transit Saturn was at 18 Pisces, making an exact aspect to the natal Mercury*. Check it for yourself: he died April 18, 1997, Pacific Daylight time. This is but one example, and there are many others. The most consistent finding, was that transit Saturn had to be in exact (within one degree of orb) aspect to the MB planet. Other malefics like Rahu and Mars were not as consistent as Saturn, as to the matter of bringing death when in aspect to MB planets. I have found MB planets strong in the charts of persons dying due to unnatural or unusual causes. They exist predominantly in the charts of murderers and serial killers also. I have example charts, if you are interested. In fact, I can attach a file which is basically the concluding chapter of the book I have been writing on this subject, to this email. It is a Word 97 document, so don't be afraid to open it. It is called MB.doc. (For everyone: please do not copy, publish, or re-distribute this file with permission from me. Thanks!) Guest guest
Hello Robert, hello Andrew and all, That's very interesting subject- If you would tell me where I can find that book, would be great- I couldn't find it on major bookstores' listings. (My father died, perfectly healthy, when he decided to have the small benign tumor removed, before he went to the cruise that he wanted for a long time. Except for Uranus on my Sun, and Jupiter was close- nothing especially bad, if we forget Uranium planets.. He died on October 5th, 1997- just before his birthday.. Libra (western) natally. At the time of death only his n. Venus was afflicted by Mars, and tr. Venus in affliction with his natal Mars in Aquarius (all western). Cause of death- just guessed..we didn't allow autopsy- that wouldn't have returned him, anyway) Maybe you can find MB connection- I have to find out what the sensitive degrees are, first. Robert, seems you forgot attachment? Best wishes, Anna - Robert A. Guest guest
Dear Robert Firstly, thank for your reply and and files from your book. One thing I would like to ask you is what do you think the orb of influence of these points is. I have a personal interest as my Mars falls at 11.50. Aquarius which is 50 minutes away from the exact Mrityu Bhaga point and my lagna is also at 23.14. also inside one degree of the exact point. Even my lagna lord is close to a point at 15.02 Capricorn. Mars has caused me much grief and brought the Police after me at times as I've said already. The transit of Mars over my ava yogi planet has always been bad and I know Mars will kill my father as it is a dire maraka if seen from my 9th house. In my D12 Mars afflicts the 9th lord Venus so I expext him to go when I reach Mars dasha very soon. His Moon is in Taurus which is his lagna, so I know his time is due. He is 82 and still o.k but his mind is failing. I have Dr Charaks book which I think is good but like us he can only go on what he has experienced and seen. I have three close friends, two who have Venus in Gemini at 11 degrees and one at 10.49. The 2 girls have the close conjunction of Mars to Venus as well. I have grave fears if they get married as both are still single but planning to get married soon. The man is also getting married soon also. Jupiter is transitting their natal Venus this year indicating marriage but I wonder the effects when Saturn hits this point in a few years. You cannot mention these things of course but it puts you at unease in some respects!! Andrew

Dear Robert, My first thought is that you have bitten your own cheek: may we copy etc. WITHOUT your permission? Anyway since it was not attached, no harm is done within this short period, I´m sure. But may we read it, with or without yor permission? Hahaha! Mani

We found in our research classes on this subject, that the orb should be very close with MB planets. You will get the most noticeable effects when the orb is within 30' of arc, but it works up to 1 degree. If I get time this weekend, I will post the chart of Tamra Meyer, who was a very well-liked, and promising young Vedic astrologer in California. Some years ago, she died tragically in a car accident. Now, MB planets were poignant in her case, and it would be a good illustration. Once I "clear the deck" in my office, I will post her chart. There are many others also -- you will be fascinated at the poignancy of MB planets in those charts. More later.......... With regards, Robert ===================================== Robert A.
