Now, another technique that comes to mind here, is "Navamsa Tulya Rasi", which means that such Navamsa conjunctions, or in fact any Navamsa positions, can be observed over the natal chart as well. So you can get the following possibilities: 1. Natal Rahu being conjoined with Jupiter in navamsa, because of their trinal relation in the rasi chart; 2. Any malefics transiting in a 120 degree range from natal Rahu, will place them in the Navamsa sign of Rahu (or other planets); 3. Taking the Navamsa Rahu (and transiting planets reaching it), back to the Rasi chart, you can see those malefics with relation to natal factors, i.e. lagna lord, Atmakaraka, Moon, etc. Take Das' example last year: he was experiencing great loneliness and need for companionship, and expressed this on the list. I noted in his chart, that transit Ketu was at 24 Sg at that time, keeping in mind his being in the Vim. dasa of Saturn, sub-period of Rahu. Now, his natal Venus is at 24 Aries, thus putting transit Ketu - the Moksha karaka - in conjunction with the Navamsa Venus, who also joins Saturn in the 6th in Navamsa. So when we see in Das' rasi chart, that Saturn is in a "trine" relation to Venus, this is not to mimic western astrology, but to show that this exact relation puts Saturn in the Navamsa conjunction of Venus, and further puts transiting Ketu there with them. Note in Das' chart also, the theme surrounding Ketu in his Navamsa. 7th lord Jupiter joins Ketu in the lagna, which more or less presupposed marriage or other relations with very spiritual ladies, or others who are unavailable or distant, and thus they increase Das's desire for them. He would not be attracted to clingy or co-dependent types, but those who are high in knowledge, detachment, and yet are unavailable mostly as well. Now, putting the Scorpio Venus/Saturn and transit Ketu combination back in the natal chart, they occur in the 8th house, where frustrations of sexuality or intimacy are likely to occur for the time being. Anyway, all this shows that *even if you do not believe in the 5/9 aspects of the nodes*, they will be all over a natal planet by Navamsa relation (if their rasi relation is in exact trine within a 3-20 degree range), which you can observe vis a vis natal positioning of planets and lagna as well .. As Chris points out, other varga chart placements should be watched very closely for transits of Rahu or other malefics in their divisions. One final note on this nodal aspect thing: I have read many time in BPHS, in the original Sanskrit, words such as Shani-rahu drishti, or Ravi-rahu drishti, etc. Drishti means aspect, and so fitting within the Parasari scheme, there is most certainly a directive for the nodal aspects. Whether it is 5/9 or not is where the debate comes in. Yet, my advice is to get used to using not only Navamsas, but also rasi aspects, as from this vantage point, the nodes will come into play much more strongly in all your chart interpretations as well as event-timing. If you do not believe in Navamsa aspects either, then planets in Navamsa signs will most certainly aspect according to rasi drishti. At SJVC (Sri Jagannatha Vedic Center), headmaster Pandit Sanjay Rath, shows the holistic approach of combining rasi and graha drishti, with typically "Jaimini" systems, such as Argalas, Arudhas etc. It is all meant to be done in unison, and not exclusive of each other. There is absolutely no place in any classical writings, to suggest that "Jaimini" astrology should be used exclusive of Parasari. They are one and the same.
