Dear Everyone/KV /Raghu, Since Raghu has addressed me personally I take the liberty of writing a rejoinder. Raghu has expressed his and my views so well that I need not elaborate on them at all! KV´s letters are paradoxical: they reflect the tolerance of the advaitic saktha philosophy, but there is the insistence on the guru aspect! To misquote Shakespeare, "Some are born with a guru, others find a guru, yet others have a guru thrust upon them!" The finding of a guru is a matter of need and destiny! You can recommend a guru, BUT NOT SELL A GURU! Statistically speaking: God has provided for all our needs with great care. If he had thought all of us need gurus, he would have provided for an adequate numbers of gurus at all times. We know that gurus are rare, were always rare. So God expected us principally to use our brains and conscience to find him and his love! How mny of the billions of people, no matter how devout, can personally meet Sai Baba, Ammachi, Meera etc.?... Are they all doomed to be burned in Hell? as Raghu says, Amma has to wear a spinnal support. Meera had to suffer terrible pains after an operation, was inconsolable after her mentor Reddy died! Sri Sai Baba generally cures himself: he takes on the poisonous effects of others´sins, suffers and transforms the energies into positive vibrations. But WAT OF HIS METHODS or teachings? He says that truth is paramount. How, in a world of Maya? He gives the following parable: A hunter is chasing deer in a forest. The dear run to the ashram of a sage and hide themselves in his garden. The hunter asks the sage if has seen the deer and where they went. The sage replies, "My eyes can see, but cannot speak. My mouth can speak, but cannot see! How can I answer your question?" Great! But let us see this in the times of Nazi germany. Jews run to my house and hide themselves in my cellar. The SS is hunting them and asks me whether I saw the Jews and where they were hiding. Would the SS men have accepted an answer like the sage gave? It would only have aroused all their suspicions, they would have searched my cellar, caught the jews, and sent me to a oncentration camp for having helped Jews! i would have said, "Yes, I saw them and they went thatawy!" and pointed to some possible direction! Will God punish me for this lie? If so, I´d choose the Devil! A group of people went to Sai Baba. One of them was invited to a private audience. Baba took him to a room, exposed himself and asked the devotee to give him oral sex. he was shocked and ran away. But from further talks with devotees on the field, he learned that Baba relieves one of karmic obligations by this act. he went again, did what he was asked to do, felt relieved....... Does it have to be that way? The tough regimentation at Baba´s and Meera´s darshans puts me off. Ammachi is different, the atmosphere is relatively free (for all!) Kids and dogs run around, it is like a family get-together, not a "spiritual experience" as such. The Buddha himself rejected ascetism, pleaded only for restriction, the golden mean. Did the Great Mother bake all the goodies only to tell her children that they were poison, to be avoided? Or is she delighted when the children enjoy her cookies and thank her for them? as a good mother she certainly says, "Don´t fill your bellies with the cookies, for that can make you sick! eat a bit each day, but not all at once!" Every aspect of creation is polarised as positive and negative. Without this creation is impossible. The purpose of creation is to achieve duality. Moksha or Nirvana as return to Unity is defeating creation, no mother wants her children to get back into her womb, become eggs and finally get dissolved in her bloodstream! Enjoy what God has given us, including sex or food. But don´t overdo it! Use sex to express love - be it forever or a moment! - but don´t rape your daughter or sister or mother! Two birds on a tree, one high above, that sits still. The other hops around, mates, eats the fruits. They are twins, the one above enjoys or suffers all that the lower bird undergoes. ..... This is an allegory mentioned in the vedas and upanishads. Dedicate your deeds to God, your good deeds and your weaknesses too! And do not judge over others! If I ever learned anything amazing, it was from a dog! I consider myself a child of Durga. Therefore i reseve the right to argue with my mother, expect clear answers to my questions! Is this impiety? Am I her son or slave? She knows a damn sight more than I do, and I have the right to ask for explanations! did she make me to love her because it is my obligation or because I adore her voluntarily? To appreciate her greatness I must at least have 80% of her knowledge!!! That is what I strive for! regards Mani
Guest guest
Dear Mani On my site there is a link to a site about a man called U.G Krishnamurti. He spends a lot of time in Switzerland so you may know of him. There are a lot of books that can be downloaded on his site which are well worth the cost of the paper and ink from your printer. He actually has never written a book but others have, quoting the many talks he has given for people. He is absolutely caustic about certain "Gurus" and his observations are very true. In fact this guy UG is probably one of the most enlightened beings currently on this planet although some may not think this and think he is a madman. He is getting old now but I have been a keen fan of his for years. He has that no nonsense, scorched earth approach I love so much. Go to my links page at www.fortunecity.com/victorian/coldwater/83 or any search engine. You won't be disappointed............. Guest guest
Dear Andrew, Thanks for mail. My computer is at present very shaky and I don´t dare getting to internet. Have to re-load my system before I do anything else. even sending email collapses now and then! I shall do what you say and get to UGK. Jiddu Krishnamuthy was also great. I try to be moderate, but my choice of words - to remain precise and comcise - seems to give people the impression that I am aggressive. Most of them seem to miss the point. I am a very "religious" person in believing in the existence of a loving Intelligence that is approachable personally, having had such experiences. I do not accept the neutral and rather sterile attitude of some Buddhists (hinayana?). But I cannot gush and swarm and rave! When "faith" ends up as religious disco or LSD session it is too much for me to bear without objecting. Being in love with love is not loving a person, loving religion is not loving God! You are very Yang, I try to be more Yang-Ying. But when Ying gets the upper hand, it is not very nice! It is best to be Young! regards Mani
