Guest guest
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! Namaste Mani! Mark is just giving us what he learned from Prasannan Herke..and you know as well as i do what those data mean, since i've given you exactly the same data myself earlier...and have posted it on this list last month or so...(only i had it from the MA Center in San Ramon California.....) Local time in this case is not Astronomical time but the local time according to IST....in other words 5:50 East of GMT...or 5hours and 30 minutes east of GMT....we're merely using different conventions for the same thing...in some Jyotish programs they want you to put the minutes...and in others it is done in hours...and so 5:50 means 5 and one half....you are an engineer....certainly you knew this.... So Amma was born at 9:09 AM in the time of her area....Goravani's program deals with these particulars very well...and his is one which uses 5:50 incase you hadn't noticed....and he doesn't mean 5 hours and 50 minutes...... most affectionately dear friend....you picky guy!! in Amma's Divine Love and in Her Service, this child salutes you!~ as ever, your own Self! visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! Dear KV, Being an engineer I prefer to be precise and avoid confusion. It is NOT good to use different conventions unless one also gives the basis. Astrology is a science and it is necessary to stick to one convention of notation, or we will all calculate different charts! One cannot give time in ST and mean DST. Esp. with Indian births before 50 years one has to be careful as to what is meant. Terms like Local Time are astrological terms with a very definite meaning. Ascendant is not East Point; Midheaven (MC) is not Zenith. IC is not Nadir. These are all used in "Local Mundane" charts. Also declination is not latitude. Vertex and Anti-vertex are not to be confused with Ac or DC. 5:50 is NOT 5.50 by any convention. The colon signifies hours and minutes, wheras the stop is a decimal notation and means hours and fractions of an hour. You can put in 5:50 if the program takes it in that form. Usually the TOB is given thus. But time zones do not take this format. Here you must put in 5.833. My original mistake was that I misread Mark´s correct 5.5 as 5:5. Hope this explains. those who calclate(d) charts by hand will understand me. Using a programme hides these intricacies, which the programme knows and takes into account. regards Mani PS: read your letter re. Ramakrishna paramhansa´s TOB. If so I strongly suspect that of Vivekananda - the deep connection between them is hardly to be seen.
