Dear Natabara Das,

What a beautiful expose! Well done!!

Always reassuring to have your knowledge confirmed by another...and unasked

for makes it a gift of kindness...thank you!

Certainly first half of (Mercury) dasa has it's difficulties. You are

absolutely right and have gained my respect for your insight.

Best Regards

Wendy

[gjlist] Gurus & where to find them

Dear Wendy

In your posting to Visvanathan you said

<<It is my understanding that the 9th house, 9th lord, and Jupiter are the

principal factors pertaining to one's personal Guru (in the natal chart).>>

Yes, it is correct.

<<The 5th house of "spiritual practices, mantras, etc" shows the type of

spiritual practice one will adopt, and also the principle deity that one

will worship.>>

I understand that it means as well higher instructions.

<<However since

coming into Mercury mahadasa (ME exalted in 9th) I find myself somewhat

"fickle" when it comes to Guru (chopping and changing my mind frequently)

although I still maintain a similar meditation practice.>>

Very interesting, i got the feeling that your spiritual life is moving

faster now that you are in Mercury dasa. I heard that "by the mercy of God

we find the guru and by the mercy of guru we find God". Guru is the Divine

agent & can appear to us in different shapes, times & circumstances

according to our spiritual development & need. During your Saturn dasa,

your 1st & 2nd houses were the most relevant because Saturn rules those

signs, therefore your external personality & well being & your speech &

assets were prominent for you. However, Saturn in the 6th as 1st lord and

by his own nature gave you a lot of realizations born of extreme hardship.

Because of this combination guru came to you from a different angle. Now

that you are in the Mercury dasa, which is exalted in 9th, there is going to

be a different perspective on spiritual values. Because mercury is the lord

of your 6th & 9th houses, the indications of those houses are going to be

primordial in his present dasa. The first half of the dasa is going to be

represented mostly by the 6th & the 2nd half by the 9th. So, i will say

that there is going to be some evaluation & service in the 1st half &

dedication in the 2nd half.

There are 3 main level of existence; exploitation, renunciation &

dedication. This last level is the highest of all and that means that your

life is transforming in a positive direction. So, guru is going to appear

to you in a different shape. This does not mean that we have to reject

those gurus that have help us in our primary level. They did their job

nicely & now it is time for us to move forwards, that is why we have many

siksha gurus around. We need all the help that we can gather to achieve our

last destination. We are in a helpless condition & we need a proper

guidance to avoid further delays & mistakes. So, i would say "fasten your

seat belt because your are going to take off".

Best wishes

natabara das

Dear Wendy

Thank you for your appreciation.

Welcome. I could not resist posting what i thought when i saw the combination

described by you. Unfortunately, we are living in the material world & envious

entities, both visible & invisible, try to get from us that which is given to us

from above. Therefore, they try hard to deviate our attention from our duties,

so we can fail in our service & dedication & that is why they give us a hard &

difficult time. But if we are determined to achieve divine nectar, we will be

protected by His Divine Grace. Krishna says to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita

"Just do your duty (dharma) & I will protect you".

Thank you Wendy & God bless you

Hello Natabara

That is a great thought. But astrologically speaking how does one find out

the focus of "duty" or calling, rather than profession. To extend this a

little, we all get caught up in the material world, in the beginning

watching everyone around us and surmising that I too have to run around like

a rat. I dont think we spend much time analyzing what our duty, focus, likes

etc are. I submit that if we following our "calling" there will be less

stress. This will be a good practical application of astrology.
