Guest guest
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! Namaste!! this is mainly for those who haven't read about it already on the Vedic astrology site hosted by the Sri Jagannath Vedic Center.... there is some interesting information from a discussion on the Vedic Astrology list by SJVC...it has to do with checking out who your Guru might be, where Her/His lagna might be...and how to find the Guru thru Jyotish...or to confirm for yourself if "your Guru is your real Guru" (just kidding!) Below i have pasted part of the discussion as brought forward by Narasimha Rao of that site: "Here are my 2 cents on this matter. I may be corrected by elders and gurus if I am wrong. The 9th house shows fortune. When we are dealing with knowledge, the 9th house shows the guidance we receive in our pursuit of knowledge. So, that is what the 9th house in D-24 shows. Planets represent human beings. Just as the lord of GL is the final bringer of power as I said in an examplke today, the lord of 9th is the final bringer of guidance. So the 9th lord shows one's guru. Apart from the 9th lord, if a planet has a particularly strong argala (intervention) or rasi aspect on 9th, then it can also show one's guru. Basically, the planets with argalas on 9th show people who intervene in the guidance one receives. Planets aspecting 9th show people who influence the guidance one receives. The 9th lord is the main person in charge of one's guidance." i am very interested in this discussion re 9th house and its lord in reference to the Guru....as was said: "The 9th lord is the main person in charge of one's guidance." the reason i mention this is that in my case it appears to be literally and actually true....the ninth house of my rasi chart is Virgo, with Sani and Mangala sitting therein arguing with each other or at least Mangala is arguing, redfaced, and annoyed and Sani isn't feeling at His best either....(at least that's how it seems in looking at this life!) So Budha is the ninth lord...and no wonder He's hanging out in the 12th House...in Mula....He'd like to get as far away from those two Grumpy Grahas as He can...and the house of renunciation "seems just the place....Ahhh!!!wait a minute! what do you mean i have to work?????you mean this is my Guru's Home? oh no....out of the frying pan and into the fire....." In looking at my Guru (and Mother) Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi's chart, one learns that Amma's atmakaraka is BUDHA...As well, interestingly enough She has Budha and Surya both in Virgo in Her 12th.... So one can see quite easily that: my Guru=Budha(ruler of Virgo(the 9th)in Mula,Sagittarius)=Atmakaraka of Amma=Lord of Amma's 12th placed in Her 12th with Amma's Surya ....and Thus My Guru==Ammachi...pretty precise...in both charts in the 12th house of renunciation... Amma was born on Sept 27 1953 at 9:09 AM local time in Kayankulam, Kerala India, at 9N11 and 76E30....(lat and long according to Goravani's jyotish program atlas, but not according to the specs he gave here on his list...)... as for me i was born on Dec 2 1951 at 11:18 AM Local time... at lat 49n59 and long 117w22...time zone 8... when comparing one can easily see how precise this statement re: Guru being lord of the Ninth house of the devotee can be....One can also fruitfully compare one's own chart with that of one's Guru (as i have already suggested here on this list)....and with the other devotees one knows...and one will see that one is "related" to the Guru (at least that's how i see the layouts for Amma and myself, and others of Her devotees...and that one is "related" karmically with the other devotees...try it...it's quite interesting to apply those compatibility teachings in this way.... reading further in the Vedic Astrology list i discovered more details about finding information about the guru...wherein it was discussed to look in the 9th house of the D24 chart....even with a short look one can see that the Lord of the 9th (Aquarius) in my D24 chart is Sani, and when we look to where Sani has gone in that chart...Sani is perched in Libra...where He is most comfortable... now this is perhaps simpler than as the theory was explained, but Sani in Libra in my case is very indicative of my Guru's lagna...as Ammachi's lagna is in Libra...and Sani also sits therein in Her natal chart...so two confirmations of what i already knew...but it is very nice to see it all laid out like that.... i am most interested in practical results that will help people and spiritual indications and teachings as to be found thru the Sacred Jyotish...there are so many technical details, that we beginners would tend to be lost at sea in any given moment in regard to all the information that needs to be correlated...still even in my jyotish infancy, there is much to be chewed upon and tasted with delight...surprising, yet convincing...such as that literalness of the Ninth house and its relation to the "Guru"...in both Rashi and D24 charts.... i suppose that if at least two indicators are pointing in that direction the probability of precision will greatly increase...in my case with my own SatGuru, Ammachi, it's more like hindsight...as i already know Her to be my Guru...She having told me Herself, while laughing gently at my ignorance...as if it were all a big joke (and it WAS since i really already "knew" somehow within, yet needed to hear it from Her, my Amma.)...and then a while later (possibly the next year!) as i offered Her some mangoes and Hershey kisses, She asked: "Guru Achara?"...to which i answered even not knowing what it meant, "Yes Amma!"...only to find later that it meant (according to the translator) "the things you do for your Guru". So to find all this confirmed so elegantly in the layout of the heavens is icing on the cake...but WHAT icing!!!!To see the beautiful traces left by the Celestial Architect, such that even we beginner students of the ancient Art can find mind boggling confirmations of lived experiences...to see one's Guru all laid out on paper in those calculations...... is truly awesome and leaves one humbled and thankful for the Divine Grace which has led one to this Art... another confluence can be found in the Shastiamsha division of the charts...as das Goravani says: "The special deities ruling these divisions have important sway on the individual." Strangely enough, the deity associated with the Shastiamsha division (for me) for where Jupiter (Guru)is found, is named "Amrita", (if i understand this correctly), thus indicating a kind of link between "Guru" and Amrita (at least in my mind)....and as i have said earlier Amma's Name is Sri Mata AMRITAnandamayi Devi...and all Her swamis, swaminis, and brahmachari(nis) are named with AMRITA as part of their Sannyas Names....so to me that indicated yet another link with Amma which had been left to discover..."just for fun". too, upon meeting Amma, many of Her children (as i have stated elswhere earlier) are running interesting Dashas and Bhuktis, and very interesting transits relative to their natal Suns, Moons, Venus, Guru, Sani, in fact the whole crew of Grahas can often be found in interesting relationships both with the Devotee's birth chart, and with Amma's birth chart... For example for me, to list a couple, Jupiter (Guru) was retrograde at 16deg30min Scorpio, directly conjunct my natal sun (within 7 minutes) the day i met Amma. Venus and Ketu were in Aries, (my 4th house of the Mother) directly opposite (by bhava, not a close orb) my Venus in Libra (Venus is my beloved deity, Sani my atmakaraka), and Mother's Lagna and Sani in Libra... Sani that day, was directly opposite (at least by the bhava, not by degrees) his natal position(Virgo), now in Pisces, the natal home of Guru...and having just left Aquarius into Pisces, Sani had even graced me with ending His Sade Sati on my lagna and Natal Moon, that DAY (as far as i can make out). Even the lagna of the time i met Her was in Scorpio, along with Guru, (on my sun) and directly opposite the Sun and Mercury in Taurus (for the day's chart)...Moon was in Cancer directly opposite (only 52 minutes off!) my natal moon in lagna bhava of Capricorn. As well Rahu and Ketu were in Aries, Libra, and connecting my natal Venus with the oppositional Venus of the day, and Amma's Lagna and Sani with them all. Just a few musings...hope they've been of interest...being just an infant, tho' i do realize that i may have simplified things a lot...still it seems to work and is inspiring both in a Jyotish way and a Devotional way... i give all these details not so much to bore you all, as to interest you in checking out your own configurations and comparing with those of the Guru...for those of you that have a Guru... In the Divine Mother's Love and in Her Service, i salute You with folded hands, bowing again and again, as ever Your Own Self visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! Guest guest
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! Namaste Manoj (and list members)! Thank you for your kind comments re Gurus....i am well aware that we do not find the Guru, but rather She (in my case) finds you...it is entirely clear to me, having experienced it myself. However i probably should have named the post more like "Gurus and where you find them finding you"....perhaps you would have better approved of that. i was sharing this information so that one could obtain some benefit from it as i have...as for your comment to look in the 5th House...the house of Mantra Diksha... thank you very much for the elaboration...in my case this is again born out (if you are speaking either of the Rasi or Navamsha charts....Amma's Natal Moon in Krittika in Taurus is in my 5th Rasi house of Mantra Diksha...(right where Sani and Guru are sitting right now!!) and in the Navamsha, the 5th house from the Taurus Lagna being Virgo, would make Mercury, its lord, an indicator, and once again here, we find (in Amma's Rasi chart) Mercury and Sun in Virgo, as well as Amma's atmakaraka to be Mercury... So in both cases the theory will work here too....and thru either your method or the one i discussed one will find pointers, or indicators leading to the Guru....However if She hasn't found you already, of course this will all be just theory, although you may be able to use it to figure out more of what is required of you for the Guru to find you....in my case a lot of crying to the Divine Mother, and asking Her to reveal Herself, just as Paramahansa Yogananda had suggested so long ago in His "How to Talk with God" book...i have to say it works....(of course if the Guru doesn't think it's time, then you'll probably never even get the idea to do these practices....) hoping this has been of some help.... In Her Divine Love and in Her Service, i humbly salute you all! bowing again and again, taking the dust from Your Lotus Feet, and remaining as ever Your Own Self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! Guest guest
Dear Mr. Visvanathan, Yes, the gurus find you and you dont find them. And as you have already stated in your post, the planets in your chart as well as your guru's chart would have to vibe well with each other. Why 5th house when accepted house is 9th. Because unless and untill you have the purva janama punyas "5th house" how would you have a guru "9th house" in the present life. regards, Manoj >"visvanathan " <kasi_visvanath >gjlist >gjlist >[gjlist] Re: Gurus and where you find them..........in Jyotish >charts... >Thu, 14 Dec 2000 05:21:15 -0000 > >Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! > >Namaste Manoj (and list members)! > >Thank you for your kind comments re Gurus....i am well aware that we >do not find the Guru, but rather She (in my case) finds you...it is >entirely clear to me, having experienced it myself. >However i probably should have named the post more like "Gurus and >where you find them finding you"....perhaps you would have better >approved of that. > >i was sharing this information so that one could obtain some benefit >from it as i have...as for your comment to look in the 5th House...the >house of Mantra Diksha... thank you very much for the elaboration...in >my case this is again born out (if you are speaking either of the Rasi >or Navamsha charts....Amma's Natal Moon in Krittika in Taurus is in my >5th Rasi house of Mantra Diksha...(right where Sani and Guru are >sitting right now!!) and in the Navamsha, the 5th house from the >Taurus Lagna being Virgo, would make Mercury, its lord, an indicator, >and once again here, we find (in Amma's Rasi chart) Mercury and Sun in >Virgo, as well as Amma's atmakaraka to be Mercury... > So in both cases the theory will work here too....and thru either >your method or the one i discussed one will find pointers, or >indicators leading to the Guru....However if She hasn't found you >already, of course this will all be just theory, although you may be >able to use it to figure out more of what is required of you for the >Guru to find you....in my case a lot of crying to the Divine Mother, >and asking Her to reveal Herself, just as Paramahansa Yogananda had >suggested so long ago in His "How to Talk with God" book...i have to >say it works....(of course if the Guru doesn't think it's time, then >you'll probably never even get the idea to do these practices....) > hoping this has been of some help.... > In Her Divine Love > and in Her Service, > i humbly salute you all! > bowing again and again, > taking the dust from > Your Lotus Feet, > and remaining > as ever > Your Own Self, > > > visvanathan > >Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! > > > > > >gjlist- > > > ______________________________\ _____ Get more from the Web.
