Dear Friends,

We are not lost, but are in the beginning of a RESURRECTION! I am just reading

a treatise by a Russian professor, who begins his paper by quoting the first

sentence of the Gospel of St. John!: Ennaia ine logos, to logos ine ton theon,

kai to logos ine theon!"

"In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God!"

The actual "word" was "Logos" - the root of all our words like "logic",

"...logy" etc. The reasoning and understanding of the cosmos and and its Creator

is "Logos", not just a spoken word, but the intellectual intention and message!

In the development of our symbiotic existence between soul and body, from astral

creation on venus, semi-astral existence on Lemuria, followed by physical

existence on Atlantis and elsewhere, we are going through an evolution. Forget

Darwin! But the brain is rhere, a central computer, that has antennae that send

and receive messages from the entire, endless cosmos. This computer is the most

wonderful thing I know of. It has millions of circuits, chemical/electric, but

none of these is constructed with INSULATED wires! If an electrical engineer

builds only a fraction of this brain with un-insulated wires, there will only be

a short-circuit, a blow up!

Was this wondrous organ given to us only to be derided? There is often a

discussion about Bhakthi and Logic, as if one is isolated from or superior to

the other. Holistically they are one. Bhakthi is NOT abject and blind surrender,

BUT a surrender with love, born of CONVICTION. Otherwise it would be only

emotional weakness and animistic worship.

The whole principle of meditation and the higher yogas is to use this brain in

its most effective manner, to tune it perfectly to the divine sender! Not all of

us can reach the stage of the great saints, whose "brains" could at will receive

the messages of the Supreme Deity, to the extent that they could converse and

that the conversation could even be heard by disciples. But I think that we

should learn to think!

Was it Swedenborg wo said, "Think with the heart, love with your head!"? Cold

thinking is unholistic and leads one astray, into cul de sacs. Stupid love leads

to spoiling and encouragement of worthless traits..... Love includes

discipline, harshness when needed. There are times when this discipline gets too

hard for me, and i say, "Mom, how about a small break, a holiday?" She smiles

and gives me the break, like when my daughters visit me with their wonderful

boy-friends, two loving and dedicated young men.

The conviction gained by thinking is unshakeable. The "bhakthi" one gets from

hearsay is not always so. Again and again I meet people, Christians and Hindus,

who have lived model lives, but are suddenly faced with misfortune. The Hindus

blame Karma for it, the Christians get shaky in their faith! But both are

dejected.

I say to both, "The harder the test, the higher the class you are in! As long as

you are tested, you have not failed!"

This is a plea for philosophy. Think, think, think, till it hurts, till you are

perhaps forced to change your notions! Too many Hindus sit back on their

rituals and mantras, not realizing that our purpose in this birth is to learn to

live together, to understand and love. A beggar, crippled and sick, is supposed

to suffer for "past sins"! He deserves it! A jeweller has a touchstone, against

which re rubs a piece of gold to see how pure it is. Each one of us is a

touchstone for others! The beggar is there to see who helps him. He may be an

incarnation of God!

A Catholic priest once objected, having read about Hinduism and Buddhism, " I

cannot accept this way of thinking! For us Christians, salvation depends only

on the GRACE of God, but you say you can attain salvation by you own efforts."

As it often happens, a story came out of my mouth spontaneously, without any

preparation:

"Once there was a great genius, a scientist, engineer and architect. He had a

huge laboratory, where he worked on his plans and experiments, where there were

all sorts of apparatus, computers, tables covered with papers. He was a loving

father, had two sons. But the children were never allowed to enter the lab,

though they often begged to see it. The father said, "You do not know enough. If

you make even one false move in the lab, you will cause havoc! So finish your

studies first and after that you can come in, perhaps even help me!"

The boys were sometimes good students, sometimes not so good. But The father

always helped them in their studies. The father told them to learn this or that

and so it took a long time till they finished. It so happened that both finished

at the same time, although one was older. They had learned all the natural

sciences. But the father said, "Now you must learn philosophy!" So both went to

school again and passed the exams. When the results came out, they came running

to the father, the younger boy was quicker and said "Papa I have passed with Ist

class May i now see your lab?" The father said, "Yes, my son!" The older

brother then said, with pride, "I have passed with Ist Class plus! And now I

want to see your lab!" The father said,"No, my son, you shall not!" The boy was

shocked and asked, "Why not? I have better marks than my brother, and you have

agreed to let him in!"

The father replied, " Your brother had passed well enough - and asked for my

permission to enter the lab. But you are demanding to see it. It is my lab and I

can decide whom I let in. You have qualified, but not earned any right! Till you

learn this, you cannot enter!"

Filled with contrition, the boy, in tears, said,"Papa, you are right and I am a

fool. What hurts me most now is not that I cannot enter your lab, but that I

have lost my respect in your eyes. But please Papa, at least don´t stop loving

me!"

The father looked at the boy, saw his genuine sorrow, and said, smiling, "Come,

my children, let us go into the lab together!"

........... "Father, that is GRACE! We must qualify and then request permission,

not take salvation as granted because we have achieved something! Praying the

rosary is good, but the door will open only on humble request, not demand!

Even God does not enter into our private sphere without knocking, and unless we

invite Him or give Him permission to enter, He does not come in!" As far as I

know the priest started reading the Gita!

To get back to the beginning: the Russian scientist postulates a cosmos evolved

out of intellect, The Holy Ghost. In our plane he says all information is held

in water. "Apas", the "milky" ocean ...... What memories are stored in the

Caspian Sea? the point is that a Russian scientist in a state university

propounds an "esoteric" thesis and is allowed to give lectures all over the

world!.... And that he can show these things in a lab! Times ARE changing!

regards,

Mani

PS: Dasji, thanks for letting me think aloud!
