You can present it tomorrow, too, but I feel that judgement from karaka is extremely indicative and the generally accepted principles agree with this. ( Don't get mad! ) Going to the points you made: > > >>I don't think that the nodes in the eighth, > afflicting the sun and bad lord jupiter, would have > allowed such longevity under Capricorn; in spite of > the nice Saturn in the tenth.<< In addition to the eighth, the ascendent and the karaka have to be considered. The ascendent is in very good shape because it receives an aspect from its lord. The karaka is exalted in the best house, wherefrom it aspects the lord of the house of longevity, the moon. In this regard, the moon/eighth house acquire strength. > My first point here is I don't see Jupiter in this > chart as being that bad for longevity. Next, the great strength of > the Lagna, in the Capricorn chart, is also helpful. > This is lacking in the Sagittarius chart, I believe. The Sagittarius lagna is very strong- Jupiter is with the lord of the ninth in the ninth. Ketu becomes a blemish, maybe, given this situation. I use same house, same sign. I probably jumped from one to the other in my mind. A pious death and destiny is also seen in the Sagittarius chart. The lord of the house of the next destination, Mars, is in a pious house and receives an aspect from Jupiter in the ninth with the lord of the ninth. What else do you want? A hand-written invite from Vishnu to join him in Vaikuntha? # ; ^ ) Yadu Shreshtha- I'll respond to you on Sunday. Bye now! Guest guest
Om Krishnaaya Namah Dear Dharmapada, Hare Krishna!!! Apologies for the delay in my reply. >>Because the sun is in the eighth instead of the benefic ninth.<< Yes, but the Sun is in his own house and there are no other death indications. Further, the Capricorn Lagna is stronger. >>But under Capricorn, the karaka for health occupies the eighth. I just don't see how you can follow the above line of reasoning.<< Because, while the karaka is in the eighth, he is in his own house, and the other factors for health show a stronger Capricorn: 1) Lagna Lord Shani is just past his maximum exaltation point, in the tenth. 2) Saturn is completely free from malefic aspect. 3) The Lagna is completely free from malefic aspect. Now examine the Sagittarius Lagna: 1) Lagna is in Rashi Sandhi. (Phaladipika indirectly says this is very dangerous) 2) Mars, a natural malefic, aspects the Lagna. 3) Saturn, a natural malefic and a maraka aspects the Lagna. 4) Ketu aspects the Lagna. 5) Lagna Lord Jupiter is in Bala Avastha. 6) Jupiter is almost perfectly conjunct Ketu, and is harmed a lot. 7) Jupiter is aspected by Malefic Mars. 8) The only good thing is Jupiters aspect on the Lagna, but this is extremely wide, and considering his weakness, this hardly makes up for the malefic factors mentioned above. Perhaps you may now see why I think of Sagittarius as a weak Lagna and cannot agree with the following statement: >>The Sagittarius lagna is very strong<< >>I feel that judgement from karaka is extremely indicative and the generally accepted principles agree with this. ( Don't get mad! )<< Me?? Mad??? Never!!!!.........Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) Of course, and I wasn't saying that we should ignore karakas in chart analysis. After all, bhava, Lord and karaka are the first things a lot of us drill into our heads. My point was that we are trying to decide which Lagna is correct, and so analysis of houses and Lords is a lot more important. Unafflicted Saturn in Libra will remain unafflicted Saturn in Libra no matter what the Lagna. But as the above comparision of Lagna's demonstrates, when choosing a correct Lagna, houses and Lords are far more important. >>The lord of the house of the next destination, Mars, is in a pious house and receives an aspect from Jupiter in the ninth with the lord of the ninth.<< You've jumped again in the same place as last time :-) Under Sagittarius, using the house system you use (sign=house) you have Mars is the sixth (not the pious fifth) and therefore does not receive an aspect from Jupiter in the ninth. >>What else do you want? A hand-written invite from Vishnu to join him in Vaikuntha?<< Well, considering the above, YES PLEASE!!! And not only hand written, but signed as well, with proof of identity :-) Nope...hold on I've already got one.......and yes, it has a Capricorn Lagna.
