In my experience of dealing with a vague time of birth i take about 30 minutes

before and after the time given to find the lagna. That is why i said that. It

is nice that you gave us that useful information about the local customs of time

keeping in India. As you will see in another posting i go for Prabhupada's

birth time as 15:20.

I agree with you, many people in the West take the word karma as being bad, but

do not realize that there are karma, akarma and vikarma. On top of that, the

10th house is the house of karma, activities in general, profession, vocation,

success in life Opposite to the 10th is the 4th house which represents

education in general to polish our karma. So, we have a great cross made by the

corners of the horoscope. The axis of the 1st and 7th houses indicating the

individual and the spouse or partners and the other axis; the 4th and 10th

houses indicating the individual's education and his karma or activities. Also,

in political astrology, the 10th house and the 10th sign Capricorn represent

karma in general, managerial skills to control that karma, and the government

controlling the diverse activities of the citizens. In life, an individual is

known by his name, place of origen and his karma or occupation.

Why not? From out of more than 70 different ayanamas mentioned in The Book of

World Horoscopes, Lahiri's ayanamsa is the most scientific based and researched.

Also, Bhaktisidhanta Sarasvati used Lahiri's ayanamsa and Srila Prabhupada said

that BS was the "last astrologer".
