Regarding Srila Prabhupada's lagna, i found a letter send to me by Patita Pavana

dated 30 Nov 1982. PP is a very good vedic astrologer and he was fortunated to

have the close association of SP. He said:

 

"Many pandits & devotees did Shrila Prabhupada's chart. I also did a reading

for HDG which made him well pleased. Some said Scorpio lagna, some said

Capricorn. But I always maintained Sagittarius. When asked, SP said

Sagittarius is correct. The article in A.M. was based on the chart i did for

him. So he has the chart of an avatara."

 

Knowing that PP calculated SP's chart for (about 15:15) in Dec 84 according to

his newsletter mentioned in one of my previous postings, with a modern computer

programe like Goravani Jyotish, I calculated 3 times for 09-01-1896 at Calcutta:

 

15:15 = 26°06 Sagittarius

15:20 = 27°21 Sagittarius

15:30 = 29°54 Sagittarius

 

To be vargottama, the ascendant should be between 26°40 & 30° Sagittarius. I

have the feeling that SP's lagna is vargottama & i want to calculate as close as

possible to the time given by PP (about 15:15). Therefore, following my

intuition, i go for 15:20 or 27°21 Sagittarius. That is my personal opinion, we

could do some research by taking his biography, relating his antaras

(inter-periods or sub-sub-periods) & following Lahiri's ayanamsa. This is the

closest version we have from PP a vedic astrologer, disciple of Srila Prabhupada

who asked SP about his ascendant and SP saying that Sagittarius lagna is the

correct one. Of course, astrologers follow their intuition in cases like this

and have the right to follow his/her belief.
