Hi Folks,

I'm pasting something here I saw elsewhere, as it may be of interest.

Friends,

Martin Gansten has written a superb 20-page article entitled "Towards An

Understanding of Dashas". In this 20-page paper, (which contains enough

ideas, information, and charts to comprise a small book), he examines some

of the techniques that are currently in vogue among practitioners of the

Vimshottari Dasha system, and suggest that there may be good reasons why

even though we use multiple charts, lagnas, and dasha systems, they do not

always work.

In this paper, Martin draws upon 11 different classics of Jyotisha such as

the Brhat Paraashara Horaa Shaastra, Gunaakara, Horaa Saara, Jaataka

Paarijaata, Prajnaana Deepikaa, Sarvaartha Chintaamani, etc. - and combines

them with years of his own astrological research. He suggests that some key

elements of authentic Jyotisha may have lost in recent translations, and

gives detailed illustrations that utilize these "missing" techniques.

What makes this material so exciting is that Martin is not only a highly

capable and rigorous astrologer - he is also a learned Sanskrit scholar,

with a passion to "weed out the misunderstandings and misapplications of

dashas, and if possible to refine them to the point where they become a

precision tool."

"Towards An Understanding of Dashas" is a Microsoft Word document, freely

downloadable at the following web page:

Best wishes,

Ken Lee

Thanks so much for passing this on Das!

I've just finished reading it and was thoroughly impressed. As you know I've

been a supporter of parallax MN for a long time. It was heart-warming to see the

argument put forward with such clarity. I hope everyone will take the time to

read it.

Regards

Wendy
