Hi

Could anyone one the list explain to me what is meant by Mrityu Bhaga.

I have come across this term quite often in books and journals on

Astrology, but nowhere have I found it explained.

Let me give you and example from the book "Astrology and Karma"

by K.N.Rao:

Horoscope:

Lagna: Gem. 29:09 " I saw disaster in the educational career

Sun: Sag. 16:02 of the young man. It was quite hurtful

Moon: Aqu. 13:24 because his father had a super-brilliant

MarsR: Leo 01:06 academic career and had risen very high in

a

Mercury: Cap. 04:45 his service career. This youngman was a

Jupiter Aqu. 15:35 disaster for everyone. He took to drugs

and is

Venus Scorp 01:33 stopped his education totally which hurts a

Saturn Cap. 16:35 Hindu father always deeply.

Rahu Can. 06:16

Ketu Cap 06:16

I told the father that the gajekesari yoga in

the 9th house showed his own rise.

The 5th lord in the 6th house aspected by retrograde Mars was the

ruination of his education. But some Indians took the 4th house for

education, was the argument. I asked him to prove it statistically. We

have tested it on hundreds of horoscopes. Jaimini astrology also took the

5th house for education.

Then came the crucial question, why should the boy have spoiled his

education in Jupiter - Moon which should have been an excellent period.

The Moon was Mrityubhaga if you use the Chitrapaksha ayanamsa,

not Raman`s as they have done."

So, the young man, according to Rao,broke off his education in the

Jupiter-Moon period, both planets being in the 9th house of higher knowlege,

which should have been an excellent period for his education, but it was

quite the opposite, due to the Moon, located at 13:24 aquarius.

Why is this? Is the 13th a fateful degree, and is it the same with the

other

planets? Appreciate any comments.

Best regards

Tore

All I know about this is: Mrityu means death. Mrityu bhaga is the 64th

navamsha, death inflicting. It's a very malefic point in the chart.

Hello Stensdal Tore,

Mrityubhag are the designated degrees for each planet in each signs where

they produce effects equal to Mrityu (death inflicting degrees). These does

not necessarily mean that such planets would only bring about death but such

planets are always capable of wrecking havoc in the chart, as happened in

the case you cited. This is an excellent case in point, where he explains

the working of Moon, in Mrityubhag so lucidly to bring forth the negative

elements inherent to such planets. Therefore it may at times be suicidal to

overlook such planets before giving out predictions. I dont have the table

of Mrityu-bhagas readily with me at present, but i think it is there on the

website, www.astropanorama.com, where Meenakshi Raut wrote an article with

Sh. K.N. Rao, on the use of Mrityubhagas.

regards,

Manoj
